What travellers are saying
- Floridians33596Valrico, FL389 contributionsIt is hard to describe the feeling when entering the valley of the Kings. It is truly an AWESOME experience! Make sure to take plenty of pictures. Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water !Written 25 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Smitty09876Carmel, IN633 contributionsThe Temple of Karnak is beautiful and a bit overwhelming. The entire area is quite large and given the typical temperature from April to Sept/Oct, most likely not all seen in one tour outing. But you must have a tour guide, a good one, to help you understand the meaning of Karnak. The structure is over one thousand years old and it includes the largest religious building ever built. As per the accepted mythology, this huge building, the Temple of Amun-Ra, is where god lived on earth with his wife, Mut, and his son Khonsu.
To the untrained eye, it is hard to imagine what this complex looked like when it was built a thousand years ago...the effects of flooding, the rising water table, and the obvious chemical degradation had quite an effect on what still stands and how it looks.
But this is not to be missed, MUST be seen. Take a hat, plenty of water, maybe an umbrella for the sun and a great pair of walking shoes.Written 20 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TigertribalCraigavon, UK964 contributions2 of the large statues at the 1st pylon are copies which perplexed our guide.
Nice statues, columns & more Rams.
A Mosque has been built on the ruins of the temple.
Recently restored 1.5-mile-long Avenue of the Sphinxes (Nov 2021) connecting Luxor & Karnack Temples. A boat shrine is located in the avenue.
Café & toilets on site.Written 12 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - PoojapauLeicester, UK104 contributionsThis is a lovely air conditioned museum. It's really informative and we ended up spending a lot longer here than we thought from other reviews. I would recommend starting off with the 7min presentation next to the gift shop first as it's a good overview of what to expect.
Everything is in good condition and well explainedWritten 19 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TigertribalCraigavon, UK964 contributionsAmazing temple nestled in the surrounding hills.
You are able to climb all 3 ramps. There are superb paintings in the right-hand shrine & nice carvings of Hathor in the left-hand shrine.
Views from the 3rd ramp overlooking Luxor.
Enter the complex via electric carts.
Café & toilets on site.Written 12 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - D1spmRedditch, UK1,443 contributionsYou can’t go to the valley of the kings and not go to King Tuts tomb. It is particularly small in comparison to others so you won’t be in there long however it’s worth going in to admire
The detail of the work and painting.Written 13 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Rick WSevenoaks, UK1,880 contributionsThis temple was not included in our West Bank itinerary but I went back at 4pm (it closes at 5pm) to see it. The place is incredible! It’s First pylon is the second largest in Egypt and full of carvings of Ramses III and his victories. But inside are the real treasures. Here you will find Ramses in battle with his chariot, and also his scribes obeying orders to cut off the hands of dead enemies and their tongues and (fascinatingly!) their penises too. Ask a local guide to show you round and enjoy the details of the carving – very clear to see. Of all the temples this one had the clearest carvings with a real story instead simply of more offerings to gods. You could see the place in under an hour and it is close the the Colossi of Memnon – so is easy to pop into on you way into or out of the Valley of the Queens or Kings.Written 29 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Greg s22 contributionsAn astonishing experience and well worth the expense. As an experienced traveller around the well and less well -known archaeological places in Egypt, this site remains one of my favorites. Superb wall decoration that can only be half appreciated in web images. I have a small expertise in reading inscriptions and it was a delight to read (stumbling) through such a visual feast.
My one piece of advice - get there at 6.00am. Although the Valley of the Queen's is less popular than the valley of the King's and the high entry fee to this tomb reduce the number of visitors, being there early and alone is a matchless experience. If there is no one else there, the guides may allow a few minutes extra to the 10mins limit.Written 25 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Nick PStaten Island, NY292 contributionsIf I recall, this tomb had an extra fee. So be it. It is brilliant. See every tomb you have time for in the Valley of the Kings. It is stunning how much time and work the ancient civilizations devoted to honoring their leaders.Written 4 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

This site is interesting,at every turn, every column,
Would have been happy to spend half a day there.
Busy but site is very big.
Little sphynxes everywhereWritten 18 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Christina N4 contributionsAll of the centre was so amazing, because of the incredible work that is carried out with the animals at the centre. The manager's passion for the animals and the work undertaken, absolutely shone through, and he is truly inspirational.
The work is incredibly necessary and the educational aspect so vital.
Please continue and I would return if and when I come back to Luxor.
I fully recommend people to visit and donate to such a deserving charity.
Long may this much necessary work continue.Written 22 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - D1spmRedditch, UK1,443 contributionsVery beautiful and large tomb, definitely with visiting, fantastic detailed hieroglyphics and carvings simply a must.Written 13 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Musicians Mum175 contributionsThese tombs were created by the men who worked on the tombs of the kings during their free time. Why?Because they lived secluded in the village (the ruins are visible),unable to travel in case the locations of the kings tombs were inadvertantly discovered!
Unlike the kings tombs, these tombs show visions of the afterlife and also parts of daily life. They are much smaller but well worth visit.
These artisans were able to read and write heiraglyphs as well as design ,paint, excavate, carve and would pass on their skils through the generations.
Visited this as an add on to a small group tour from UK.
Did not have time to investigate the ruins of the actual village so not sure if you are allowed in there or just have to view from the pathway.Written 22 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Stephen RRennes, France49 contributionsEasily accessible by foot if you don't mind walking a few kilometers from the ferries and carry enough water. The information board is wonderful and provides lots of interesting details on the history of the colossi and everything they've endured over the years. However don't expect to spend more than a few minutes here so it may be rather out of the way if you're not in a tour group.Written 26 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- D1spmRedditch, UK1,443 contributionsSimply a spectacular experience, as with all of the carvings at the temple it’s mind blowing the achievements of the craftsmen .
