Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was very clean and well maintained area. There are guards around the important building. Its modern and has many restaurants and bars.
Very safe and everyone was warm and friendly towards us. There was a concert in the centre which was in a tent which was well controlled.

When we arrived it was very sunny, and warm for November, it only rained for one of the nights very heavy. Most things to do is walking distance from the square, so it is very central for most things to do in Tirana.
    Will definitely go back.

This is one of the few really old buildings still surviving in Tirana. It was badly damaged in the civil war which erupted in 1944 but the minaret was rebuilt and it received extensive renovation in 2019 including extensive wall paintings. Entrance is allowed outside of prayer times and photos are allowed. Scarfs are provided for ladies to cover their head and shoulders. Only quite small, a visit will not take much more than 10 minutes.

Nice church, like seeing the different styles and designs. Recommended to cover up as in most churches and it’s free to enter. Very orthodox flashy interior.

Clock tower located just of the main square and next to the mosque.

Tower itself looks nice and has historical value to the area and city. Up top views are fairly good and you can see a lot of main square.

Not overly expensive to walk up tower so probably worth doing for that reason.

A lovely walk through and up to a massive shopping centre. Some coffee shops and fast food along the walk.
A pretty walk, but upon closer look could do with some looking after.
The lights along the path are all uncovered and have had their wires removed. A few uneven and missing paving stones.
But a nice pretty place in a busy centre

Maybe just a quick photo opportunity and move on, one of the few remaining bridges from the ottoman days, so for that reason worth a look and photo.

Thanks certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to see bridge, time has moved on from it.

The building which has an unusual pyramid design was originally built as a memorial museum to Enver Hoxa. After the end of one party rule it was turned into offices and a night club but the whole complex now been empty for several years. There were proposals to turn the building into a shopping centre and work began on this in 2019. Although newly painted and seemingly converted ready for retail, there are no signs of any shops, all work appears to have stopped and the building looks to be the proverbial ‘white elephant’. Most of the area is fenced off but you can walk up to the building on one side. It is worth a visit to climb the 120 steps to the top of the building for its views of the area.

Construction seems to be taking place at this mosque. However, from what is visible it looks like the blue mosque in Turkey..at least it has a Turkish feel about it Nonetheless, it's going to be a grand mosque and very beautiful when completed.

Another modern day cathedral in Tirana, this one for me was ok at best.

If it wasn’t for mother Teresa statue would say it’s really just a local church for the community.

Maybe not a place of significance to visit while on holidays.

Bell made of shell casings from the revolutionary period and collected by children. What a stark reminder if a conflicted past.

    Right near the dictator’s pyramid.

We had never heard of this sect before and it was fascinating
Were taken as part of an organised tour of Albania
    It's story of muslim-lite

    No man/woman segregation at prayer
We walked in the "mosque" without having to take shoes off
    Alcohol drunk
    Personal/people images allowed
Pray 2 times per day, not set times, so
No "call to prayer" and no minaret
Tolerance of other religions preached and enacted
The mosque is a lovely building
The museum beneath is modern, interesting artefacts etc but almost totally in Albanian - the fact that we had a guide to translate was very useful

This area in communist days was the preserve of the elite. The house of the dictator Hoxha was in this area. It does have places of touristic interest like the Checkpoint Monument quite apart from a raft of restaurants and coffee shops. It’s a trendy area 10-15 minutes from Skanderbeg Square, depending on your walking speed and sightseeing.
