The museum is very big and peaceful. A perfect place to take a walk while enjoying the beautiful scenery and the preserved historic houses.

I visited this place in a morning of autumn season so the weather was perfect and you will not feel tired as you walk around.

We had time to kill at the beginning and end of our trip to Sibiu. We “killed” it by sitting in the square and just watching the people go by- kids and dogs playing in the fountain, the nice fellow collecting bottles, tour groups, young couples, the bicycle delivery guys. It was a hive of activity.

Treat yourself to a covrigi or a gelato (Happy Mama is the only honest one- buy elsewhere and you’ll discover what I mean).

A pleasant place to while away some time.

We had lunch as the Atrium and while sitting next to the bridge I noticed it was a nice architectural addition but didn't know the significance. It's in a quite spot off the main square and worth a look.

Must see if you like churches. It's very big so you have things to see, starting with normal church things to witches information. Go up into the tower because you will not regret it

Lovely square, plenty of bars, restaurants and caffès where you can indulge in the beautiful Transylvanian culinary dishes, or just enjoy a cuppa and watch the world go by.

The historical town is amazing with its many churches & old buildings. The area is very walkable. You are able to see some of the old city wall which is impresive.

An interesting experience. Rooms and rooms of uninspired - and dark, filthy- art and then suddenly! a room full of treasures. By that time, 90% of visitors are so worn out by the stale heavy-handedness of the rest of the place they don’t even find this little jewel box of an exhibit room. Loved the Brueghel, the portrait pair, and especially the small, exquisite painting of the child.

Enjoyed the exhibition of Turkish rugs and the photos of how they were displayed in the churches. Felt like they, too, were dirty, though.

The madrigal choir exhibition was interesting. Clearly a matter of civic pride and joy that surpassed drearier days, and liked the presentation.

The special exhibition of the Tatras art was interesting but too much. I get it, though. I volunteer at a small local art museum, and special, focused exhibitions can be a challenge. We’ve had similar issues with artists who seem to paint the same picture with little variation. It’s hard to appreciate that much “muchness”.

Hard to imagine that this was once a lively palace full of art and culture. It just seems like a dry husk of a place. If you find yourself with extra time on your hands in Sibiu, worth a visit to support the arts, and do visit that one special room. It’s worth the whole thing.

A very pleasant looking square: turn around and you will not find anything that is not appealing to the eyes.
Less packed than the main square

The city locals pride themselves with something to do any given evening, regardless the season. There is always someone to meet or see, a good restaurant or terrace to stop by, or simply take a relaxing stroll. All roads go to... not to the proverbial Rome in this case, but to the heart of Sibiu's Old Town, the Big Square.
