Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- cdandoyGilbert, AZ923 contributionsStopped by to see the library. Easy to enter and cute gift shop. Library is modern with amazing art inside. Enjoyed the printing press and shroud on display. Some areas not accessible to tourists.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cdandoyGilbert, AZ923 contributionsMy favorite thing in Alexandria. Really enjoyed walking through and it had such great views. This was the original location of the lighthouse. Not much signage so I'm glad I was with a guide.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Voyager_Nineteen71Pune, India583 contributionsWe covered this place towards the end of our day tour. It is a unique site which was discovered when a donkey fell into a hole. Our guide explained to us details about the funeral process of the dead and how the bodies went down through the three floors. There are some Greco Roman carvings as well as Egyptian carvings at the end depicting the steps at the last stage. There was an arrangement for the relatives to visit the site regularly later too, and sit and dine.
The floors of the catacomb are dark and steps are steep and circular. Can be a tiring experience for elders.Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The palaces are located at a slight distance and there are pathways to reach them between the gardens. We saw the palaces, the bridge built by the king, his roman style structure where he used to have tea, private beach, etc. Our guide arranged for a golf cart on the way back from the centre of the site to the gate.
Nothing very out of the ordinary at this site though.Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One side had shops/restaurants and the other had the Mediterranean Sea! One can also see the Citadel at Qaitbay in the distance!

- smvNYCNew York City, NY357 contributionsThe monastery is located some distance from Alexandria and getting there was an adventure in itself Google Maps was surprisingly good).
The site is of significant importance to Christians as it hosts the relics of St. Minas. The place was busy with local tour groups. There is no entrance fee and the grounds were decorated with beautiful paintings and mosaics. There are also vendor booths with both religious items and local foods.Written 28 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
