Much more touristy than I expected but also much bigger. It's beautiful and you get a good workout on the 500+ stairs to the top. I also didn't expect to see the rescued bears - my girlfriend was delighted.

We arranged this last minute and so glad we did. It was one of the highlights of our holiday. We experienced hands-on all the stages in rice production & life on a Laos Farm, even planting in muddy paddy fields and ploughing with the buffalo. Our host was excellent and friendly in his approach - very informative and great English. The farm had been handed down in his family for many years. A must do in Luang Prabang.

If you want to get up close to elephants this is the place to come. The staff clearly care deeply about their animals and you won’t feel that they are being exploited. We took the half day experience. We were collected from our hotel promptly and given a welcome drink when we arrived at the centre. We had a talk from a guy who explained that he used to work at a place where they ride elephants but had come to realise it was wrong to do so. After this we were taken to the sanctuary where we met two elephants and fed them some bananas. Then we followed as they went to the river to drink and one of the elephants decided to give herself a mud bath. We then walked through the forest for a good hour with the elephants. Finally we returned to the rest area and were given a really tasty lunch. It was a magical day that we will always remember. Please don’t go to the places that do elephant rides and visit here instead. You won’t regret it.

This is a small hill located near to the Luang Prabang night market. It’s about 100m high with 355 steps to go to the summit. It’s a calm and awe- inspiring place to watch the sunset. However, the area at the summit is rather small. A lot of people will cramp up there during sunset. So you need to be there early. Up there. You can get a panoramic view of the town. There’s a stupa up at the summit. Besides catching the sunset, it’s also a good place to exercise! Entrance fee is 30,000 LAK. It’s closed at 5 pm.

Temple built by Setthathirath in 1559 during the Lan Xang era. Worth to visit, in particular if you're a history buff, as this was the peak of Lan Xang era.

I ended up going daily to the night market with it's breadth of local product shopping options, which were inexpensive for the most part as well as proximity to the food market, where you can have a broad selection of dishes at very affordable prices. It is a great way to meet people as well as it is a watering hole for all tourists in Luang.

There were many things to do around the city. We spent much time strolling around. A day tour to local vilalge and Kuangsi water fall was also worth doing. Laos people were friendly too.

You have to get up early to see the local monks walking to get their daily rations and gifts from the town's inhabitants. It is a very emotional and sacral moment that one rarely has the opportunity to see and take fotos of.

This is a museum that not only history lovers must see. It has a collection of items from the last generations with descriptions around. Still bit small, so you can make in 30-45 mins, but valuable to see. Costs 60,000 Lao Kips + here you must wear long pants.

I learned how to ride an elephant and was able to ride an elephant alone. There was an experience here that can only be done in Laos. I would like to come and ride an elephant again. Thank you very much.

Very somber experience. Take your time to read the boards and watch the video. To get the realisation of how very real the danger still is - to children in particular - is scary

The waterfalls here are braided and stepped. It's very scenic. I have an affinity for traveling to view falls, which I've done in several countries.
