A very beautiful walk in Opatija. Going towards Lovran , you will come across gardens, shops and eateries, as well as beach from a pier. Going towards Volosko, is less commercial with a lot of beaches along the way, so bring appropriate clothes if you want to cool off.

Well worth a visit - and repeat visits - when in Opatija. It is the most peaceful and beautiful park to walk and relax in.

Near the end of the Lungomare is one of Opatija’s trademarks, a statue of a woman holding a seagull called Maiden with a Seagull.

This is a new sculpture, erected in 1956. It replaced an earlier statue that was demolished by a storm, the “Madonna del Mare”, a work of sculptor Rathausky from Graz. The “Madonna” was erected to keep vigil over the soul of Count Arthur Kesselstadt, who vanished, not far off from that promontory in 1891. During that excursion the Countess Fries also lost her life, but her son Georg was saved.

It is a lovely area from which one can get some great shots of Opatija.

Very cute place for making some good and unique photos. The setups are creative and the staff was very helpful. I'll definitely recommend it to my friends and I'm looking forward visiting again!

Known as Opatij’s main beach Slatina, is not a beach but a concrete bathing platform surrounded by cafes and restaurants. One has easy direct access to the sea by climbing down concrete steps and there are strategically placed stable ladders that allow one to enter and exit the water safely. Although I imagine the metal gets hot in the summer.

The two pool-like sea bays offer a good opportunity for families to supervise their children and the water is also a little warmer than "in the open sea". Pretty good for a concrete beach, but it's just not comparable to a real sandy beach. We just saw people place towel right on the concrete. Chairs and sun loungers are available to rent but I understand that they are not cheap and the fee is for the entire day.

I spoke to a few locals who stated that it can get quite crowded in the summer - I still prefer sand.

We looked out onto this church from our balcony in the Grand hotel, it is an unusual shape and stands out from other churches. It is nicely lit up at night and worth a photo stop. The church is set up on a small hillside but worth a visit if you are in the area, inside is quite plain but the outside is different.

The museum was closed but it was worth the walk (not straining as everything is close there) as we could visit the garden which was beautiful.

It is supposedly a statue that used to be placed where the Maiden with the Seagull is today, and it is also located near it. It was supposed to protect the people on the sea, also, next to this statue there is a maquete of St Jacob's church which is right next to the statue and maquete itself. Another plus is that the maquete has Braille so good job for inclusivity in tourism.
