Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Denise DTampa, FL286 contributionsOur 2 boat rides on the Ganges River were extremely interesting. In the evening we boated up close the main cremation ground, and our guide explained to us everything that was going on. We then went back to the area where they were doing the Ganga Aarti. that was also amazing to see. Then the next morning we got up really early to go back and see the people bathing in the river. Our guide gave us a great explanation of what the river means to the Hindu people. Also walking through the old town to get to the river was an experience in itself, not to be missed.Written 31 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sanjay J3 contributionsThe Sarnath Museum and the excavation site are both definitely worth visiting. At the museum, cameras are allowed but phones have to be deposited outside. I wish I had known this - and hence am writing this review to share my finding here.
Do carry a camera on your visit to Varanasi & Sarnath - it helps.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A guy from the management team saw me with a few old fellows (my mom and my two elderly friends) so he made a sitting arrangement for all four of us, without charging a single penny, which I found amazing and was very thankful to him. The last time I was there couldn't get a sitting spot so had to skip the Arati mid-way, this time around stayed there till the end... Total time we would have taken around 40 mins to finish the darshan. While doing darshan keep close eye on deity which is almost hidden behind wall created around it to protect it.
The most important point is keep your mobile and other belonging in free locker provided by the mandir itself near Gate no 4. I discourage you to keep it with other shops as they would charge atrocious amount for it (they would say free locker) but then ask for money.
There is also paid darshan for 300Rs. in which there is almost not much crowd. Avoid mondays as it is Shiv God's day so in general the crowd is more on that day.
For other who would want to visit the temple and touch God, darshan is open from 3 am to 4 am in the morning.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Manuel H5 contributionsfantastic place. Ravi is a very direct and efficient person. I'm a professionnal jazz musician, and I was looking for two things: a vocal teacher for my 9 years old daughter, that would agree to use a flexible pedagogy. And a teacher for me, that would answer very specific questions about ornementation in Alaaps. Ujjwal was the right person for both those goals. Amazing singer by the way. And I spent also an hour playing music and exchanging with Ravi. This is a very serious place guys. Sympathic, welcoming, direct, clear and efficient. What do you wish more?Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
