Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had a wonderful time walking through the museum. I was especially happy to see their exhibits of the past. Also they have a wonderful shop which for me has the best collection of post cards.

Located near the beginning of the long pottery street. Nice overview and history of pottery in Okinawa.

Free language audio guide as the exhibits are 95% no english

I visited this memorial museum on 10/14/2018,and I was the only visitor during my 30-min visit there. There were a few more when I left.
This is a terrible tragedy during World War II, and an important lesson for all of us.
My first observation is the survival ratios: only 7% of children survived while 72% of crew and 49% of soldiers survived this tragedy. Not sure about the reason, and this is certainly a topic worth further study of the culture at that time.
While the memorial museum provides the "fact" of the tragedy, there was no "context" about why it happened and what led to this tragedy. If we do not know "why", talking about peace is just an illusion. Also if we do not talk about "why", I am not sure what the lesson we could learn from it.

The exhibits and audio/video are in Japanese only although it has brochure is English, Chinese, and Korean. Later I watched a YouTube clip, and it does have English caption to help me understand it. The museum should do the same.

The price is cheap, but you expect more information when you visit a history museum, especially as the city has pre-history too. The information is very scarce about the times of the Ryukyuan Kingdom too, even though modern Nara also includes Shuri, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of the Ryukyus. Yet, maybe my expectations were too high. Furthermore, it is quite tricky to find it unless you know it is on the fourth floor. I doubt I have ever seen the city's main history museum located in a weirder place.

This is not really a museum, but more of a little shop with many goods, large and small, made by the owner. There's everything from large paintings to postcards to fridge magnets and ceramic sculptures. It's quite an eclectic collection, and the prices aren't bad at all. This is a great place for a unique souvenir or gift to take home from Okinawa if you're sick of browsing all of the mass-produced knick-knacks for sale at other stores on and around Naha's "International Street."

Arriving in Naha on a Sunday morning for a couple of days of local sightseeing, I decided to 'hit' the sights towards the southern end of the Yui Monorail first. After visiting locations within easy reach of Onoyama Koen, Oroku and Akamine Stations, I ventured back to Naha Airport with a view to visiting the Yui Rail Museum. Although the location seems fairly obvious (presumably in the vicinity of the railyard just south of the Airport), finding it proved problematic. Just past the Domestic Terminal there is a major traffic intersection and the way forward was not that obvious without crossing onto the wrong side of the dual carriageway. I was way past the railyard before I could cross back, but even on the correct side of the main Airport road there is no obvious access to the Museum. You have to follow the access road into the railyard then find which particular building houses the museum.
Seemingly mission eventually accomplished .... only to find the Museum closed! A sign on the door (in Japanese) included the date 31st March 2019 so I don't know whether the Museum is closed for an extended period or whether it is ordinarily closed at weekends. I think the Yui Monorail is great and was looking forward to visiting the Museum. I don't like giving a poor review but they really need to improve the signage .... particularly with regards to directions from the Airport Monorail Station and also adopt sensible opening days/times.

We had some more shopping to do so we were lucky that they had some items on sale and some were reasonable priced. It's on the second floor up the escalator. The staff was very polite and they wrapped everything nicely for our souvenirs for our friends.
