Shugakuin Imperial Villa Sakyo
#2 of 99 Nature & Parks in Kyoto
The garden is grand, on the scale of Richmond Park; a vast and productive parkland with enormous lake and multiple waterfalls.
Perfect match to the surrounding nature to make you relax.
Kyoto Botanical Garden
#7 of 99 Nature & Parks in Kyoto
From beatuful flowers, some rare trees, perfect bonsai trees, lakes, conservatory and park full of sculpures.
Would highly recommend to get off the beaten path and see some nature that's easily accessible from the subway Karasuma line!

Mount Hiei
#15 of 99 Nature & Parks in Kyoto
Very accessible from Kyoto's centre, Mount Hiei has both nature and religion with the summit being Tendai Buddhism's home.
Instead I carried on to the summit car park, which is a bit incongruous, and the actual track to the very summit is chained off.

Since we stayed at the Prince Hotel nearby, we enjoyed strolling in this beautiful park.
This park gives a local experience!
