One of the highlights of our 5 sites visit in China was definitely Guilin/Yangshuo. The Li river cruise is unique and relaxing, and the bike visit through Yangshuo farmland and a >400 year old farm home is such a peaceful, tranquil and educational experience. And we couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable, thoughtful and helpful guide than Frank. And his English was excellent! Our tour advisor Robert Hui of China Highlights has made our 11 day, 5 sites China tour completely worry free and totally enjoyable. Only if China Highlights could have lowered the 100 plus daily temperature in Beijing, ours would have been a perfect tour!

Jackie spoke good English and was very flexible. He knew exactly where to go and which photos to take. He made all of the ticketing and admin seamless. He even bought our ice cream when we couldn’t get Weixin to work!

Thankyou so much Andy! Thankyou for being the best guide ever. I would like to give a slightly different review than what others here have given for him. Ofcourse he's a wonderful person, a funny guy finding humour in everything, a wonderful private guide to help you know what you need & also goes out of the way to let you know what you would like. But apart from that, he's very accommodating. I was running short of RMB cash & made an unusual request (usually which is not possible) to take some part of payment in RMB & some part in USD since I didn't want to take back any RMB with me. He agreed & that actually was very helpful! You can always count on him, he's very trustworthy, we left our bag containing our passports, cash & cards in his bag & it was all ok! In the end, we had to go back to hotel & it would get very late, so we wouldn't find any dinner. He pre-ordered for us so that we didn't miss out on dinner. This trip to Reed Flute Cave, the Xianggong Hill which had amazing views at the top, the Li River Bamboo cruise as well the amazing night show is something not less of a spectacular event & a must watch, thanks to Andy!

Miss Lily met us to give us tickets and walk in with us. She was wonderful- very friendly, punctual, and shared some interesting info about Chinese culture on the way to our seats. The show was very special & we had a very good time.

I had so much fun on this tour, my guide Lily was amazing and made sure we had a good time and were taken care of. She even helped us get train tickets at the station for our next day departure. The mountains throughout the region were beautiful and the activities of boating on the river, scootering along the rice fields and going up the hill highlighted the scenery nicely. This was my third trip with trippest and will use them again. I definitely recommend this tour and trippest as a whole!

We arranged a private tour with Michelle, and the experience was beyond words. Michelle spoke flawless English, provided abundant information, and guided us through the main sights. We enjoyed both a scenic boat cruise and a bike tour, with Michelle patiently snapping countless photos for us. We savored a delightful traditional meal at a charming café. Our day couldn't have been more perfect. Additionally, Michelle went above and beyond to assist us in booking tickets for the Beijing hidden city, handling every request with utmost helpfulness. We can't thank her enough and highly recommend both the tour and Michelle as an exceptional guide.

As a foreigner living in China, this trip left me completely satisfied. Jack did a great job at efficiently planning my trip, fulfilling all my requests. Our guides, Kate and Afuhan, were incredible! They kept us safe while still pushing us to get the most out of the experience. Jack, Kate, and Afuhan all had exceptional English and I would recommend this company to any one looking for an authentic outdoors activity!

We loved the whole trip with our great German speaking guide Julia. Just the three off us wandering through the fields and enjoying the magnificent scenery. Another highlight was the lunch prepared for us by a local farmer family, very friendly people and delicious food prepared from fresh ingredients. Overall, a great day out.

Guilin was part of a 22-day private tour of China, all arranged by Travel China Guide. Sally Si was our consultant and patiently worked with us to build an itinerary designed just for us.
Sam was our guide in Shanghai, and we had made contact with him through the app WeChat prior to our arrival.
We traveled from Hangzhou to Gulin by flight. It was delayed, but Sam and driver were waiting patiently at the airport. We really liked Sam, he’s quietly spoken and balanced very well when to talk to us explaining things, and when to give us time on our own to appreciate the scenery. We spent a lot of time in his care, and he put a lot of extra hours in to accomodate everything we wanted. He was totally committed on ensuring we had a great time. Without a guide we would certainly not been able to achieve all we did.
We first visited the Reed Flute Cabe and Sam escorted us through. I had though this might be a bit cheesy - lights in a cave - but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it,
We then went to Elephant Trunk Hill. It was very crowded as it’s very famous in China. Not overly spectacular, to be honest. But we did climb the hill for the views.
That evening we walked around the lake, and visited the Sun and Moon pagodas. Wow! The whole area is colourfully lit. It’s immaculately clean and tidy. Very impressive and alone is worth the trip to Guilin. We felt very safe and comfortable.
The next day we went on the Ali river cruise, with Sam accompanying us and the driver taking the car ahead. You certainly felt like a tourist, with our boat being one of 5 travelling in a chain. However, you can see past it, and the boat had a top deck which we stayed up on for almost the entire cruise taking in truely spectacular scenery of the mountains range. Truely unique.
At Yanshou we checked in and Sam took us out for a walk in the countryside. We interacted with a couple of friendly farmers, and visited one of the villages where Sam told us about how they lived, and how things were changing. The villages all seems friendly, creating us with smiles and certainly an element of curiosity.
That night we went (escorted by Sam) to the Yangshuo Impression Sammie Liu, which is a show on a lake with the mountains all lit up in the background. The show has many actors, all locals. It was a good show, on an amazing backdrop. Unfortunately you have to be tolerant of hundreds of phones in the audience beginning held up recording and photographing - some with their torch on and flash activating. I struggled with it as I found it overly distracting.
That night we toured the town, enjoying the atmosphere and great foods. There were certainly a lot of Chinese tourists there, notably younger ones. They rip around on electric scooters, and get dressed up for photographs in the scenery.
The next day we visited Xingping Ancient Town. Sam lead us up the Laozhai Mountain hike, which I think is meant to be closed to visitors so we appreciated Sam doing it. He told us we were the first tourists he’d taken up there for years. It’s quite a step hike, but fine if you have some fitness. Just very hot! Bey the view from the top is absolutely fantastic. Something I will always remember.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visits to Guilin and heading out to Yangzhou. It’s a must-do of China. Very unique and stunning scenery.
We highly recommend Travel China Guide. It would have been very difficult without them. We fitted so much in, and everything was done for us. Sam was fantastic. We felt a little guilty about how much he did for us!

Yangshuo is such a beatiful place. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Long Hair Village and learning more about their culture and life. Their performance touched me for its sincerity and meaning.

After that, we headed to Longji Rice Terraces and saw the view through some fog and mist which was an amazing sight. We then capped of the night with a show - Impressions Guilin. There is still another show in the area and I wonder if the other show is better.

The next day, our tour guide took us to see the Silver Caves and to take a cruise along the Li River. Both sights were amazing and Lily made the experience better for us by really taking care of us and seeing to our needs.

Thank you, Catherine Tours for helping set up the itinerary for us. You made our trip relaxing and worry free.

We spent a fabulous day with our guide Andy, who was professional, friendly and fun. He even spoke French. The cruise allowed us to discover some fantastic scenery while sitting comfortably on the 1st floor of the boat. Andy shared his knowledge with us, providing explanations, information and anecdotes throughout the day.
