Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- LucasmaxDevizes, UK29 contributionsHaving read various websites stating they let you on the island before 10am. I can confirm they do not!
I organised a long tail from Sairee Beach leaving at 09:00 with the hope of getting to the viewpoint without the hoards.
Arrived on the island at 09:20 to be told I had to wait until 10:00 to enter the island. Thankfully I was allowed to stand by the payment counter in the shade as 40 minutes stood on the pier would have finished me off.
At 09:45 the large Lomprayah ferry arrived and all of the people disembarked to walk straight through the ticket point and onto the island. When I asked the attendant on the ticket desk, I was told they are part of a prearranged tour and are allowed on early.
As soon as the time reached 10:00 to the second I was allowed onto the island.
I went straight to the viewpoint and thankfully I didn’t pass anyone walking up and I had around 10 minutes on my own before people started to appear.
My advice to anyone making their way by long tail boat is to arrive at around 09:35 and wait it out. When allowed in, head straight up to the viewpoint to take your pictures then you may miss the crowds.
Just to note. The signs on the island all say it closes at 15:00 (instead of 17:00 that I saw online) just to bear in mind if going in the afternoon.Written 2 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I found this spot to be a tad less busier than other beaches was a huge plus. It was also wider and more spacious than other beaches in the island. The snorkelling here is also quite good - we saw a sea turtle, barracuda and many fish.
Price to get in is $50/Nhat and includes a lounge chair.Written 16 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The snorkelling was good particularly in front and to the right looking at the sea of the Banana Rock restaurant & bar. This beach can be accessed by road. If you are walking the snorkelling at the first beach you get to “Jansom Bay” was also good. The coastal path (starts at Charm Churee Villas) is defined although not really well sign posted.
From Sai Nuan 2 follow the road and then path to Chalok Baan Kao. Turn off the road onto the driveway to the right at Char Bungalows and follow the path (& random red arrows).Written 23 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I’d suggest going early in the morning to avoid the rush.Written 15 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul BAustralia93 contributionsThis area of Koh Tao was beautiful. There are lots of restaurants and bars on the ocean and just back from the ocean.
The biggest thing we noticed was the age group. I would suggest the area is for predominantly younger clientele. Both of us at 62 and 66 respectively, felt the vibe just wasn’t great for us. To be clear, nobody said or did anything to us, it was just the vibe/music that didn’t fit.Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A wreck ist near and a scuba diving Resort offers its device. It is much quieter than most other beaches, few visitors come here. We went there twice because we found it best.Written 19 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- LouisGlasgow, UK9 contributionsI booked online for a private class and found it very easy to do!
The class was great and as it was my first time doing muay Thai they showed me all the basic techniques and moves to do. Planning on coming back as it is a great workout too as they push you to your max! I would highly recommend giving this a try. Special thanks to Chan who trained me.Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We booked the Honeymoon suite as it was available at the time and it was truly Incredible. The pool was great and the use of our own private beach area. The bed was super comfortable too.
This is not a place for the faint hearted as there are so many steps. We stayed for 6 days so became super fit and exhausted by the end of it.
The restaurant is on the beach and is such a lovely set up. Food was lovely and the drinks menu had so much choice.
The pool was great although there were not many loungers with parasols and when we asked, they said they didn't have any.
We took the free drop of and pick up to the small busy town which was great.
The usage of the kayak on the beach were great although you do have to rent the snorkeling equipment, however this is very cheap and cleaned well between each use.
We really enjoyed our time here.Written 20 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - d3outguncomSydney, Australia200 contributionsA great day out - 2 hours each way - great dive site. Very busy though, and quite a swim to the site from the boat if yours isn't one of the first few there.Written 9 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
