What travellers are saying
- Hydro Lawn Solu... F5 contributionsDefinitely do trang am rather than tam coc! Beautiful caves, great temples and gardens. Yes it is a bit busier but there is a reason for that. It's way better.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Meg HAustralia6 contributions5 starts BUT do not go if you have ANY health issues: mobility/weight/heart, this is a strenuous climb up, also do not try to climb onto Dragon at top, precarious at best!!! Awesome views. Go very first thing in morning or 2.30pm, less crowds. Do NOT park outside of gates, locals will literally stand in front of you to intimidate you to park elsewhere, say No! firmly.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pathfinder6741203 contributionsWhat a great experience to see these gorgeous bears in person, so happy to see them finally living their best lives. We were given a welcome drink on arrival, then a guided tour of the facility to see the bears up close, wonderful to see how well the bears are cared for 🫶 highly recommended 👍Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Guide537520476821 contributionWe went here instead of Tam coc and Trang An as wildlife is more for us and we were not disappointed.
Took a private car from Tam Coc.
Our lady boat rower was lovely and when she knew we loved wildlife and were not there for Instagram selfies she slowed down and stopped at all the little animals and birds that we could see this included Langurs, we had them right next to the boat for about half an hour, we could not believe how lucky we were. She never rushed us to move on. She even got excited at seeing them so close.Written 19 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. So do your homework, ask your accommodation how much is correct and stick to your guns. It is worth seeing in my opinion, I'm not a religious site person, but being 3 levels built into a limestone mountain peeked my interest. The surrounding area is really lovely too. Lots of goats wandering around and it really is quite beautiful.Written 12 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eve M2 contributionsWe had a great few days at Cuc Phuong. We went on the Wildlife Experience and spent a night camping in the forest with our guide and the ranger. This was incredible. We trekked and went on a night time walk. We saw snakes including a cobra, amphibians and birds. They set up camp for us, we ate by the fire and had a very memorable time drinking rice wine with them. Our guide was great. Highly recommend if this is what you like.
We spent a further two nights at Mac Lake in some of the newer rooms so we could explore more of the park ourselves. They were good and clean. Hard beds but we slept well.
They do a lot of engagement work. A school group was staying and blasted the karaoke all evening and from 6am in the morning. This did affect the experience slightly for one night.
We hired a scooter for a reasonable price, visited the cave (really impressive- take a torch!) and the primate centre. The guided trip around the primate centre lasted 15 minutes - it was good to hear of the conservation work there.
Food was cheap but good at Mac Lake.
Restaurant and site as a whole could do with a spruce up as you'd expect for an old national park (including a litter pick on some trails unfortunately)but we went for the wildlife and we had a great time.Written 30 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shelley MAlbany, New Zealand792 contributionsThis is well worth the time to visit. It is back from the road a bit, so easy to miss. There was no one else here when we visited, they were all over the road at Hoa Lu. So peaceful and beautiful. Quite a long walk around the lake for some people, but it is flat and even ground. There are a lot of stairs and it is well worth the effort for the beautiful views. A couple arrived as we were leaving to take wedding photos on the lake. This is a must see in my opinion and the cave is really cool too. My family enjoyed this.Written 12 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ilovemyjollies323 contributionsThere were a few interesting places to see.
Our visit was however overshadowed by someone on the site with 4 giant speakers blaring thumping music suited to a nightclub, and using a tannoy to shout to a group of people for most of the time we were there. Bearing in mind that 50m away we weren't allowed to speak to enter the buildings that to many seemed to have religious significance, it was entirely unsuitable and spoilt the ambiance of the place.
We spotted some steps on the way out, and once climbed (not for the unfit) gave great views. Unfortunately the weather was a bit drizzly and misty on the day we visited but I would recommend this if you feel up to the walk as I think it would be stunning in nicer weather.Written 25 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Emilie GMontrouge, France1,611 contributionsWorth to walk or cycle to this temple if you are in the area. The temple is nice to visit and free of charge. The countryside around it is fantastic, gorgerous and quiet. You don't need too much time to visit the temple but you need a while to reach it if you decide to walk.Written 21 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - vivek0210Bengaluru, India2,142 contributionsEn route to Ninh Binh - Tam Coc - Mua Caves we stopped at Hoa Lu ancient temple.
An absolutely beautiful ancient temple. At the temple we get to see the 4 sacred animal spirit - dragon , phoenix, tortoise and unicorn in stoneWritten 31 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
