I was initially disappointed that the official website was not functioning and on arrival, I was told they had no restaurant or shop in the premises and lastly, the POS system was not reliable; but those were the only disappointments.
They park offers different levels of interactions with nature. In the noise areas, there are playgrounds for children, a football field, table tennis, etc.
As you move further in what I will call semi-noise area, you have animals like monkeys, civets, tortoise, horses, etc and a beautiful sitting area with tables made like mushrooms.
The further you go into the forest, the more private it becomes. The Lake Nora may be be very popular, but Lake Moses was the most impressive spot to me and one of the spots that requires quiet, the rewards could be being able to spot fish in the golden-green waters.
The forest was easy to navigate without a tour guide, and for just 1000 Naira per person, it was worth it.Written 24 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just wish I could afford many of the pieces I come across! 😄 Red Door Art Gallery looked a decent enough place for me to check out. I loved, loved, loved the 'red door' at the entrance- hence the name of the place! It's spread across 2 floors and showcases the work of African artists exclusively, (mostly Nigerian, but there was some stuff by other 'Art Maestros' from all over Africa).
I met RACHEAL at Red Door Gallery. She was a bit quiet and subdued at first, but as soon as I engaged her in conversation, she instantly opened up and was very helpful. Her knowledge about all the pieces was impressive. The art at Red Door is modern, beautiful, fun, ornate, fresh, yet outrageously expensive. I don't think there was a single painting, mural or sculpture that was less than 1 million naira! So RDG is most definitely a place for people with 'deep pockets'! 🤑 I particularly loved the gigantic sunflower sculpture that was made with spoons and another piece that had tons of nails incorporated into it, (refer to posted photos). Was very touching to see a huge drawing of a girl with tears rolling down her eyes and the number 219 in the background- which was a tribute to the Chibok girls that were kidnapped some years ago in Nigeria. The 219 is the number of the girls that were taken! 😥
On the second floor, there were some classic relics, like a trio of old brief cases/carry on bags from airlines. There was one of the defunct Nigerian Airways, (refer to posted picture). I also saw some archaic boxing gloves, musical instruments and a miniature Singer sewing machine from yesteryear. I don't think they make those anymore! So fascinating to see something from a very long time ago. Red Door Art Gallery seems to have a huge focus on female art. Perhaps the owner is some kind of feminist or women's rights activist. Anyhow, there's a whole lotta 'Girl Power' up in RDG! 🙅🏾♀️ There are a lot of amazing and unique pieces at this gallery, so I would strongly recommend it to any art lover. However, just like I mentioned earlier, this place ain't cheap! All the pieces here come with a hefty price tag, so y'all better come prepared! 💳💰 I really enjoyed visiting this art gallery, and look forward to returning again. Thanks once again to RACHEAL for her wonderful service and professionalism!Written 6 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are several black heritage museums in the Badagry area, friendly tour guides. Great escape from chaos of Lagos.Written 27 February 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
