Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- 023worldtravellerMumbai, India51 contributionsCentrally located. quite close to Dadar station, Shree Siddhivinayak Temple is a must visit on your trip to Mumbai. It's well connected by local BEST buses too that ply from different parts of the city. Whether you come here to ask for some special favour or as a thanksgiving, the darshan of Lord Ganesha will make you feel truly blessed and at peace. If travelling on a short city trip, avoid Tuesday as its very crowded with the queues spilling on to the end of the lane. Prasad Ladoo's made of Boondi as well as coconut are available at a fixed nominal cost in the temple premise itself. Within the temple area, there is also a separate queue which offers a shorter queue and quicker darshan at an additional fee of Rs.100. It's completely optional. There are no charges for the normal queue. Overall, it's one of those places that's sure to make you feel happy to have visited it.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - William SKobe, Japan1,289 contributionsGlad I selected this temple as it is both beautiful and welcoming. It is a sacred place (remember that when you go) deserving of respect as a tourist. Wonderful carvings, people praying, colourful art and statuary. Definitely worth a visit.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RnB16Mauritius141 contributionsThe Basilica of Our Lady of The Mount also known as Mount Mary Church is located on a hillock in Bandra. It has a scenic view of the Arabian Sea and the architecture is very prestigious.
I was highly recommended to visit the Basilica by my brother who mentioned it’s a very beautiful church, which is very peaceful and serene.
I was very lucky that I managed to visit the Church on a Saturday afternoon where there wasn’t much crowd. I was fascinated by the beauty of the architecture and once inside you are mesmerized seeing Mother Mary statue holding Jesus in her arms. It’s grand and you feel the vibrant energy, peace and quietness.
It’s a great place to spend time as it brings you to a meditative state.
The church is well kept and is clean.
I had bought candles from the stalls outside and lit it and prayed.
I felt light and happy after my visit.
There are many stalls outside the church where they sell different models of candles for special purpose.
People of all faith visit the Basilica and I would definitely visit on a next trip.
I would highly recommend the Basilica to anyone who wants to visit Mount Mary Church as it’s a very special place to visit.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Temple is clean and well maintained. The temple doesn't offer parking facilities, bus stop around 500 meters away and cabs are available nearby. Shoe stand outside the temple without any charges. you will find shops of sweets, flowers and other goodies nearby the temple.
Usually crowded and there is a huge queue. Have to wait for 30 min for darshan.
Inside the temple premises, photography is not allowed, ensuring a sacred atmosphere.
Receiving blessings from Mahalaxmi is an enchanting encounter. Upon departing, indulge in lots of the delectable street food options near the temple.Written 28 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One must visit this temple besides of course Sidhhi, Mahalaxmi and mumba devi temples. One can take excellent food just opposite Babulnath temple Soam of I remember correctly.Written 14 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - keith hChesham, UK1,032 contributionsI last visited here in 2016. Back here after 7 years. I came here in a taxi this time - last time I took a train from Churchgate to Mahalaxmi & walked down past the racecourse , having first had a look at Dhobi Ghat which is right by Mahalaxmi Station.
The big change since is that a new coast road is under construction meaning that a section of the causeway leading from the road to the Dargah is now channelled under a concrete dual carriageway. This occurs shortly after you have passed the colourful stalls. Then the causeway is as it was , albeit with less people hoping for charity aligning it.
Make sure you visit when the tide is out otherwise the causeway will be submerged.
There is a view to be had right across Worli Bay with exposed rocks to both sides ( still littered , unfortunately ). Tower blocks on the shore rise out of the smog , fronted by the cranes & construction works of the new coast road. It might look alright when finished but now it rather grim.
The Dargah itself is the monument of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari , a 15th c Saint from modern day Uzbekistan. Very attractive in it's white marble but , unfortunately , due to pollution & salt damage there always seems to be some part of it under repair.
There are toilets available & food & water. You can walk right around via a stepped , uneven & slippery apron. Some intrepid souls pick their way across the rocks to the water's edge , others congregate on the rocks behind the Dargah.
Disappointingly grubby , as before but still a very worthwhile visitWritten 28 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We managed to see locals performing a ritual prayer when we went. You need to take footwear off to enter.Written 24 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

We could not go inside as Christmas Eve Mass was going on. However, the doors were open and we managed to have a look from outside. Pretty and simple and it was nice to observe the Christmas Eve Mass.Written 24 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Caroline KramerMumbai, India7 contributionsThe water towers are being refurbished and the tank was low on water and pretty grimey but this little corner of Mumbai has a real peace about it. The water towers are very old, as it the tank and there are temples, shrines, houses snd small shops all around. The water and the wind are supposed to be healing. At the moment I would let the water do its thing from afar as even the traditional putting water on your head thing would not be something I would recommend, definitely no jumping in for non locals. There were kids mudlarking, people taking photos, a couple of families sitting and a loud game of cricket at the other end of the pool. Even with the busy-ness of life there is a real calm and peace. Just one of those places. Sit quietly for a few minutes and breathe.Written 28 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bhaskaran K1 contributionOne of the Big South Indian (tamilnadu) Temples in Mumbai (,Chembur).Having idols of Lord Murugan, Guruvayurappan, Iyyappan Shiva, Durga devi, Shiva and Anjaneya in one place is great. You have to climb almost 100 steps inside the Mandir to have Darshan. There is Lift facility also. One should not missWritten 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - William SKobe, Japan1,289 contributionsOld and beautiful synagogue with a lot of meaning for Mumbai history. As noted by others, this synagogue has been renovated and is still active despite a declining Jewish population. You’ll see an armored vehicle and police outside and at least one of your group must show a passport and register for entry. If you come on a Friday and wish to participate in a Kiddush or services you can do so but you must tell them in advance. It is near the Taj Mahal Hotel and was one of the sites attacked by terrorists in 2008.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
