On a clear day, the view of Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling is simply breath-taking. One can stand and keep looking at it for a long long time. Undoubtedly the view of Kanchenjunga has to be the best attraction of Darjeeling. I reckon October - December could be the best months for the sighting.

We were taken up Tiger Hill as part of our India tour, stating off from the hotel in Darjeeling at 03.30 am. It was a long wait in the cold to see the sun rise. When it did happen we were lucky that it was very clear and the sun shining on the Himalayas was quite spectacular.
At that time in the morning we were some of the first to arrive and could choose our places in the stand area. By the time of the sunrise the place was very busy.
If you're coming by your own transport it's a good idea to park it along the exit road - the car parks are filled bumper to bumper and it must take a very long while getting away.

If you are interested in the Himalayas you will like this good small museum. It’s really remarkable how far mountaineering has come since Everest was conquered. See the equipment and photos of the early explorers. And the three dimensional map is very helpful.

Journey to the top is very tough but enjoyable and after reaching the spot (top) only an ill-maintained little water pool / lake disheartens but atmosphere of the surroundings is very good.

We visited the loop through the toy train and I would recommend that as a better option when compared with going by car as there tends to be huge jams around the point. The place is beautiful with a memorial for our soldiers and several small shop keepers selling their wares around it. Watching the train loop around is a wonderful experience.

Riding the Ropeway in Darjeeling was an unforgettable experience! The stunning panoramic views of the lush green hills, snow-capped peaks, and the beautiful town below left me in awe. The smooth ride and the breeze made it even more relaxing, offering a unique perspective of the landscape. It’s a perfect blend of adventure and natural beauty, and I highly recommend it

Sourini Tea Estate is a beautiful place, although the place is very lonely. Visited the place last year in the month of December 2023 for one official meeting.

Walked up and had a lovely quick cheap tour and some tea tasting. Due to it being off season I would recommend not going in winter, as there’s no production happening. But that didn’t take away from the knowledgable tour and couldn’t be helped! Worth the Rs100, and if you fancy braving the steep walk, it’s not that bad!

Beautiful gardens and waterfall right in the mountains on the outskirts of Darjeeling, despite the very steep/unsafe roads to & from there (was even a landslide towards the bottom). My only problem with the area was that there was some litter left on the roadside near the waterfall but otherwise, was such a stunning area.
