The level of professionalism and preparation displayed by Dinna, the tour guide, is amazing. The tour is long, 4 hours, but is so well paced that you wish it lasted longer. It’s really well designed in terms of stops and terrain covered. Basically all highlights of Shanghai are covered. Dinna is amazing and shows lot of love for her city. Mary was an absolute gem of a guide, sharing so much knowledge about the history of Shanghai and China, and had so many stories to tell as a local. Our driver was polite and provided a first class car and experience also. Jim was an amazing guide and we went to the best restaurants and had plenty of food. If you have any doubts, just book yourself for this tour. She flawlessly provided transportation, explained culture and history in outstanding English, answered our numerous questions, and brought us through a historic garden, boat tour and village. Delightful afternoon of learning and site seeing. - Rune3211 contributionsWell worth a visit, but 45-60min is sufficient. If this is your only garden visit whilst in China, perhaps spend more time and possibly a guide.
For us, not the only garden and as such, no guided (and expensive) tour was perfectly fine. Shanghai old city just next door also worth while, 2 birds with one stone. - 125clivej3 contributionsExcellent tour with Tom. Very knowledgeable. Just the right amount of commentary then you get some time to explore each location before moving to the next place. Quite a bit of driving between locations which is ok because you get to look at the city. A fair amount of walking so wear good shoes and dress for the season. Very hot and humid in September. Lunch was great. Nothing too scary for a westerner.
We started at 8am and was back at hotel around 3.30pm but we were only a group of 3 so larger groups may take a little longer.
Silk ‘factory’ at the end is a little bit of a hard sell but you don’t need to buy anything. Don’t feel obligated !

She was easy going and relaxed but also organised and made us feel very safe riding our bikes through the busy streets of Shanghai. The 2 food stops were fantastic as were the 2 interesting historical stops in the French Concession.
