Beautiful area. Butternut Falls. Not sure if the glacier was effected by floods. Check out other reviews before visiting. Take a professional guide in any case.

The Goldbelt Tram travels up Mount Roberts, which is a 3,819 foot mountain near downtown Juneau, located near the cruise ship docks. The Goldbelt Tram can carry 60 people from sea level to 1,800 feet up the mountain in 6-minutes. It gets its name from the mines in the mountain which opened in 1917, and closed during WWII. Almost 3 million ounces of gold and other precious minerals were taken from it.
We rode the Tram up Mount Roberts in the mist. That was probably not the best choice as the mist turned to fog and then light rain. We decided to walk the ½ mile Alpine Loop Trail anyway to try to see more of the Gastineau Channel, but we never got above the lowered cloud ceiling before the rain increased and the trail got slippery and muddy. We decided to turn back, as we weren’t dressed for those conditions. The fog mostly obscured the view from the trail outlooks. We did see some examples of the Sitka Spruce and some totem poles along the way.
There is a restaurant at the tram’s docking point on the mountain and we enjoyed a hot lunch there before descending. During the descent, the fog lifted a little and we had nice views of Gastineau Channel.
The Tram runs from mid-April to mid-October, depending on the weather.

It is absolutely beautiful and worth the 2 mile hike back and forth. Not only are the falls gorgeous, but so is the hike to get there. The rainforest is beautiful, and you can see bald eagles if you're patient. You may even get to see salmon attempting to swim upstream!

We had such a great whale watching experience from the beginning of pick up and after drop off. To start off, our bus driver Garrett was nice and funny. He gave us some interesting tidbits about Juneau and Alaska.

The actual whale tour exceeded expectations. The scenery was beautiful, our crew kept us informed about everything we were seeing or anticipating seeing. We felt safe on the boat and everyone had a chance to get a great view of the wildlife and take pictures. We saw 7 humpback whales and 3 killer whales! We got really lucky with the perfect weather and a wonderful crew. Thank you to Dale, Coral & Anies for a memorable day.

Excellent museum with permanent exhibitions on Alaska history and culture. Large exhibition hall has changing installations monthly and for they remain for 3 months in the summer. Reasonable entry fee, parking under the museum. Upstairs is the State Archives with a unique glass installation worth seeing.

It is not an easy hike, but worth the effort! Lots of great views of the surroundings and spectacular view at the summit. We did take the tram down.

Beautiful place … a true labor of love as the owner has to transplant the plants into the greenhouse every winter and replant them every spring. The upside down trees are especially imaginative. Your guide takes you in a cart through the forest providing nature education along the way. The view at the top is spectacular. Sone of the plants are not native to the area and the same as what we grow at home in Alabama, but overall it was a lovely experience.

A lovely spot, away from the city. It's quiet and beautiful with a fine garden and chapel. Since it's north of Juneau, it will require a rental car to reach.

It is well worth it to get on a smaller boat to head into the Tracy Arm fjord. The twin Sawyer glaciers were stunning and truly the entire excursion was incredible. Wildlife and so many waterfalls and icebergs… Probably one of the favourite things I’ve done in Alaska.

It was interesting to learn about everything they do for salmon. I really liked seeing the tanks where the salmon start their lives. The small aquarium at the end was a pleasant surprise! We also managed to find salmon jerky that we’d been looking for for a week.
