Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- 456alanfPotters Bar, UK172 contributionsLuskentyre beach is the most stunning beach I have ever visited, which is saying something, as I am in my seventieth year. When I first saw it my breath was literally taken away. It has beautiful sand and is never crowded. The sea is crystal clear and there are views across to Taransay.Written 11 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AntheaJGEdinburgh, UK305 contributionsWe visited for a tour on 31st October and it was one of the best experiences we had whilst on holiday in Lewis. Leona who conducted the tour was brilliant and so passionate about the company. She told their story so well and it felt like a real community. The Hearach was smooth and peaty and the gin was fabulous! I loved all the botanicals especially the sea kelp. Just a brilliant visit- highly recommend to anyone visiting Harris or Lewis.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lorraine ESkipton, UK1 contributionThe Golden Road
Even though it is sealed smooth with tarmac, the extreme bends of Harris’s Golden Road tend to keep traffic to a minimum on this winding single track route through some of Harris’s rocky East Coast. The road starts at Meabhag nam Bhaigh, Plocreapool, Scadabay, Grosebay and Kyles Stockinish, before rejoining the main East Coast road at Leacali.
So much discussion on what constitutes the Golden Road. Officially,. it Dows not stretch all the way to Rodel - see above (taken from OH Tourist Board)Written 2 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Worth the effort though.Written 23 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tantaluss63 contributionsI’ve been visiting Huishinish for over 40 years since I was a kid and have always looked forward to it. A beautiful quiet beach where you happily spend a day without a care or disturbance except for the odd local or a sheep or two. This was still the case only short few years ago. Now is a different matter. On my latest visit the place was crammed. The Visitor centre had been built when I last visited but it was quiet and we were able to park easily on the new car park. This time it was full of campervans and motorhomes, every inch of road was full of cars even the turning circle which had been built. It was like visiting a theme park. Yes it’s a beautiful place to stay overnight but that doesn’t mean you have to. The introduction of facilities has created an issue that has in turn ruined the place. God knows what the small community of locals think of this influx. Yes I sound grumpy and people are entitled to visit as I have but the sheer amount of change in both visitor numbers coupled with campers and vehicles has completely ruined it. Those visitors who think it’s beautiful now would be gobsmacked if they’d visited even 10 years ago. Sad.Written 23 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ladawncpIsle of Skye, UK451 contributionsA wonderful wee little church with very old carvings. We were the only people there and it felt really special. Wandered around the gravestones outside for quite some time and was amazed at the number of recent burials.Written 24 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Suzie and I managed to escape after spending £200, could have spent £1000s.

- Colin CWakefield, UK33 contributionsThe Isle of Harris is like chalk and cheese, on the East side of the island you a gifted with rocky coves and mountains where you will probably see seals and other wild life whereas on the West coast you will be awarded panoramic views of where you would swear you were in the Caribbean or somewhere similar.Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
