Aluxes Ecoparque Palenque
#12 of 396 things to do in Southern Mexico
This is really worthwhile and kids especially will love the chance to interact with giant turtles, manatees, little boas and crocodiles, parrots etc...
Our children fed the manatees, we all fed crocodiles and held snakes, baby crocs and cuddled a tortoise.

Took boat tour through the bay, and get to see everything from cruise ships to family fishing boats.
Kids loved it!

Playa Entrega Huatulco

There were a lot of Mexican families with children enjoying the beach which was nice - it was a friendly, family-oriented crowd and made for great people-watching!
Enjoyable to watch the multi-generation families interact with such respect and caring.

You will see all ages walking around, couples cuddling, groups of kids practicing dance on courtyards, street musicians, vendors, and endless stores carrying local goods.
I have small children and they loved to see the different shops.

You can rent surf boards right in the beach from the lifeguard kids Javier and Cristian, they were so friendly got a good deal and good tips from them.
The favorite part for the whole family was spending 20 minutes boating around a Super Pod of dolphins!

I would love to start a foundation to take kids from surrounding villages on trips to the canyon to discuss ways they could preserve it.

Playa Carrizalillo Puerto Escondido
#38 of 396 things to do in Southern Mexico
... to learn surfing (there are several beach boys around who really do their best to get their clients up and moving) The swell at the beach is modest, so even small children can enjoy playing in the warm water.
We also love the local cultural exposure as many local families and others from other part of Mexico also frequent this beautiful playa!
El Arcotete San Cristobal de las Casas

The caves are awesome, there are great trails to walk and swings for the kids.
We went with young kids and hiked/explored for a couple hours.
Miradores Canon Del Sumidero Tuxtla Gutierrez
#22 of 396 things to do in Southern Mexico
The little kids did fall asleep and got bored but everyone thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour.
The price is right for this tour and can be enjoyed by all members of the family except very small children or people who may have difficulty getting in and out of the lunches.
Tule Tree Santa Maria del Tule
#68 of 396 things to do in Southern Mexico
Tule is a beautiful town just 40 minutes from oaxaca, has a smal Church and the cost to see the tree and Church is $10 pesos, once inside a lot of little kids will ask you if you want to know the history of the tree.
But nicer than the tree is hiring one "niño guía" (guide kid), they are kids around 7-8 years old, only the best in school are invited to do this job.

Zocalo Oaxaca

There are bands playing music, people dancing, children running everywhere with balloons, vendors selling sweets and treats, and just general joy, relaxation and fun, all under massive trees and a purple sky.
Wonderful to see so many families strolling, enjoying live music, performances and ice skating in the Zocalo.

Parque de la Marimba Tuxtla Gutierrez
#61 of 396 things to do in Southern Mexico
Toddlers buy balloon toys, teens buy ice cream, families stroll around the perimeter of the park under the great ceiba trees, and the music: romantic, urgent, insistent, brings all these people together in a party...
... to say the place is so happy when I arrived there I heard the music and I have seen a lot of people there like a huge party with a lot of people getting fun and enjoying the moment with the family and friends.

Interesting exhibits and plenty of opportunities to explore different aspects of stamps, a recreated post office, and a small library where kids can make bookmarks.
It has a great gift shop, a lovely courtyard, great exhibits (currently Frida & Diego), and activities for children.
Playa Bacocho Puerto Escondido

My kids absolutely loved the turtles!
Not suitable for children and swim at your own risk.
#19 of 396 things to do in Southern Mexico
You are guided by local kids who were fun to talk with.
Be sure and gather one of the many children waiting on the road to act as your guide to the swimming falls and he'll watch your stuff for you while you swim.
Tangolunda Bay Huatulco
#31 of 396 things to do in Southern Mexico
Be sure to go by the Dreams Hotel, you can see a lot of fish swimming, great for kids.
Swimmable for most but small children should wear life jackets due to the wave action.

Along the way you'll see children, & mother's selling Mayan fruit snacks, & drinks, as well as clothing & souvenir items.
If you like you can stay in one of the pousadas for around 200 peso, basic accommodation but nice to hangout with kids and walk to the waterfall anytime you like in less than 5 mins.

We swam at the beach and with a young child enjoyed the gentleness of the waves, the easy entry to the water, and the crystal clear blue ocean.
Left side (south end) of beach is always calm for family swimming, right (North end) side has more surf and less children.
