The Randall Henderson Loop Trail trailhead takes off from the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center parking lot.
There is a wealth of great hiking available here, from a quick half hour loop just outside the victors center, to day long hikes up the Art Smith trail up to the oasis's and beyond.
1 Way to experience it

An excellent visitor's center is the hallmark of a visitor-friendly city, which is exactly what I found Palm Desert to be.
The visitor center is great and extremely helpful if you've come to Palm Desert/Springs without any idea of what you'd like to do.
The City of Rancho Mirage Public Library Rancho Mirage 2.8 mi away

But the library was a great resource for me during my visit in January 2017, and I feel it is one of those somewhat overlooked resources in the Desert.
The Rancho Mirage Public Library is a fantastic resource and it is a very comfortable place to pull up a chair and read a book.
