What travellers are saying
- KK78Bay Shore, NY730 contributionsThe National Historic District in Breckenridge is very cute. Lots of little shops and restaurants. Unfortunately the sidewalks are not maintained at all from the snow, so be prepared and walk carefully.Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mcorarKerrville, TX44 contributionsEasy drive over unpaved sometimes rough roads but views were nice. Just wished we caught the changing colors of the Aspens and other trees on the trailsWritten 26 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - elchacoHouston, TX843 contributionsGreat, short hike just minutes from Breckenridge. It's an easy, loop trail with some amazing views. You start in the parking lot and end in the parking lot. Don't miss out on this awesome, free activity for everyone!Written 11 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Asg007Boston, MA249 contributionsThe snowcat tour was the highlight of our vacation! It was fun and our driver Gary told us so much about the area and wildlife (he’s so friendly, a really great guy!). We enjoyed the coco and s’mores in the old mining cabin, and the sledding! Highly recommend, and will definitely do it again if we come back.
The lodge itself was so cozy and a hot spot for cross country skiing.Written 14 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was pretty cool. The guy would explain and seemed pretty knowledgeable where you can mention a bourbon you like and he could give you something similar or at least explain differences. We did that and then ended up in the restaurant to grab a bite. Great staff and food was decent.Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DeanneB969Littleton, CO74 contributionsFirst of you need to make a reservation for parking at hikequandry.com
The parking lot shares support with those doing quandary peak.
There is a shuttle during the summer that takes you up a fire road 2 miles near the start of the trail.
We were told it was a moderate hike that meandered through flowers next to streams.
It was actually quite steep with lots of rocks and roots. Pretty scenery, however not for a beginner of those out of shape.Written 20 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Vibe is the best in town and bartenders are great.Written 16 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TJMcKinney, TX4 contributionsWe have done this trip twice and it has been highlight of our vacations both times. We did this the week before Labor Day so we miss a lot of the crowds, which is really nice.
We were staying in Breckenridge and this time we decided to drive to Frisco and rent from one of the companies there. We wanted to take our time in Copper Mountain so by renting in Frisco we didn't have to rush back to catch a shuttle back to Breckenridge.
We have two girls 12 and 10 and this was not hard for them. This is a very accessible ride for all ages. The one challenge for our 10-year old was she was not used to a bike with hand brakes.
It's hard for me to do, but I recommend taking your time on the first half of the ride (up to Copper Mountain) and not to try and set any speed records. Otherwise, the trip will be over before you know it and you'll have missed a lot of great views and picture opportunities.
Copper Mountain was a lot of fun to take a break and check out all of the activities there. The conference center has a locker room with restrooms and a water filling station for your water bottles. There are lots of clean restrooms all around, but this was the only water filling station we found.
We recommend this trip to anyone who goes to the area with a few tips:
- Bring and drink water
- Pace yourself in Copper Mountain because you still have more riding to do
- Wear layers that you can take off as the day warms up or just be ok with a chill in the early part of the rideWritten 1 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were surprised to see snow on the peaks as the sun rose! It made the climb a bit harder but beautiful. We took our time up and down, used much less h2o and food than expected. Weather was sketchy with fog, sleet, rain and sun all in the same trip. Did not see any mountain goats, but saw many Pikas and several mountain grouse. If you’re from a low level home be sure to train - 14k+ is not joke. Fun trip and views amazing.Written 13 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- rugby007Alexandria, VA388 contributionsThis area of the Breckenridge complex is best for brand-new/novice skiers and for solid Green and flat-groomed Blue skiers. It can be crowded, so be ready for some waits. The base area is well suited for rental, with a number of gear rental and retailers literally between the street and the base of the Quicksilver Super 6 chair. It can really move some people but on the weekends even this capacity is very quickly overwhelmed. If you are an experienced skier looking to get up the mountain, starting at the bottom of Peak 9 is probably not your best bet.
The Peak 9 lifts do directly service the somewhat hidden Falcon Super Chair to the top of Peak 10 and its Black-only runs down.
The Maggie is at the bottom of Peak 9, your typical ski snack bar, with overpriced and overcooked food. It's spacious, but fills up very quickly at lunchtime.
I found the staff support at the bottom of Peak 9 to be quite good, with very engaging and helpful folks at all stations. I arranged lessons for a couple in my party and liked all of the instructors.Written 3 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. About a quarter mile from Main Street so not as crowded. Great place for lunch and relaxation.Written 18 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John ZCalgary, Canada182 contributionsDid a tour in October. The history of Barney Ford including the house was absolutely captivating. We learned a great deal about Breckenridge and its famous historic residents. A must see/do!Written 26 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
