This place was so cool. Butterflies and birds, and a pair of flamingos as well. Beautiful butterflies. They have a video informative section before you enter and when you leave they make sure no butterflies are on you as one stuck to my husbands shirt. The gift shop is where you exit. Worth the stop in the keys. Just a reminder its hot in there along with the keys weather outside but still a great stop.

If you find yourself in Key West, carve out an hour or two to stop by the museum and take the tour (probably 30 minutes). We enjoyed our time with Rob our tour guide as he shared with us the history of the property, the house, and some fantastic stories about Ernest Hemingway. I have three teenage girls who went to see cats and enjoyed learning the history just as much.

The Yankee Freedom staff were great! Comfortable accommodations for our 2 hour trip to Fort Jefferson. Bagels for breakfast and sub sandwiches, chips cookies . Only complaint is, I wish there was more time to spend there. Definitely listen to the 29 minute talk when arriving. We wanted to snorkel, so didn’t take the 45 minute tour ( which we would have done if there had been more time. Absolutely beautiful on the island and great snorkeling. We rented wetsuits the day before ( in Matathon) and that was a great decision! I don’t think we could have stayed out there long without. We saw lots of different beautiful fish. Great time

A must see when visiting key west if you are into history. The tour guide was excellent and answered all of our questions and we did not feel rushed.

Great park with dozens of shaded picnic tables and a decent beach. Beach has many small stones and dead coral, so tender feet beware.

We found souvenirs, key lime pie(Kermit’s was great!), shaved ice, great views, great shopping, awesome atmosphere all the way; literally up and down from southernmost point to Mallory Square! We loved it, 2 boys 5&7yo. We had fun the whole way, paid for 4 hours and made it back with half hour for the pier.

Definitely would be a different experience w/out kids but we loved it!

Cuban coffee queen is a hidden gem not to be missed for coffee, breaky or lunch!!

Drove from Fort Lauderdale- was only going to do a few Islands but loved the diverse and picturesque scenery we drove all the way to Key West - stopped for the photo at Southernmost Point Marker - we all enjoyed the trip and stopped at plenty of off road places to look at some of the fabulous houses and boats - plenty of places to stop for. Cup of tea or coffee
Will definitely revisit as the shops/bars/restaurants in Key West where fabulous

My husband and I visited the cutter on a Friday. It was so interesting! It was built before WWII and saw battle in WWII and Vietnam as well lots of other deployments! This historical beauty is attended to by all volunteers! They are amazing to keep her up for all of to visit! We spent 2 hours touring and we would have spent longer but they were about to close. We had the ship to ourselves so we took our time reading! One of the volunteers came and found us and answer tons of questions for us. He even took us to see the roped off boiler room! We got to sit in the mess hall and watch a show about the Ingham! Oh the operating table was in the mess hall! Not joking! Please got see this ship! It is an amazing piece of history!!!! If it wasn’t for the volunteers and donations the Ingham would not be here for us to view! Thank you volunteers!!!

Cool site to see. Plan to stand in line and wait to take a picture. No place close to park so I suggest a shuttle drop off somewhere in the district and plan to walk.

Their blond rum is absolutely delicious. Light but very flavorful on the palate. We purchased 2 bottles to take home. Free tastings but only 2 to sample.

If you like history and view points then this is the place to visit in Key West! The view from the top of the lighthouse is about the best you'll get in the old town. The stories around the museum are interesting and the guide at the top of the lighthouse was knowledgeable and helpful (a guy from Bristol, UK).
