We stopped just to see what it was all about. We are glad we did. Nice place to walk around and learn about the animals they have. Dolphin show was our favorite

We're all divers and spent about an hour and a half going through the exhibits.
I expected more modern recreational diving equipment.
However the depth (no pun intended) of commercial equipment and technology makes up for it. Underwater chainsaw, score's of different helmets in an organized display, how to spot a fake Mark V navy helmet, working examples of manual and motorized pumps, replica helmets, suits and bells of 1700 and 1800s diving.
I've been a recreational diver for 35 years and I don't think I'd volunteer to try some of the old helmet and pump concepts.
If you go, be prepared to read as only about half the exhibits are audio.
This was our first visit and have kept it on our list as an activity to do if weather prohibited boating activities.
I'm glad we made the visit, it was short enough to keep a teenagers interest and detailed enough to engage an engineering type adult.

Stopped here a few times on our trip. First time we sat out back in the beer garden, plenty of shade. Had a few Vodka crooked Palms and some food truck food. Very good. Bought some drinks to go. Came back a second time and sat indoors. Fun environment.

Nice picnic areas and beach area. Swimming area not overly big, but nice. Can get busy and have difficult time finding parking. We didnt use the pool or courts.

We snorkeled here with our Crew from Florida Sea Base. A fantastic first dive!

Crystal clear waters, great marine life, lots of barracuda and reef fish. We even spotted a few nurse sharks.

Stay away from the rusted piers of the lighthouse.

Whether you are a browser or a buyer, this is a nice little place to stop. A few nice little shops, a few things to eat, and you can even watch a little glass blowing live.

We arrived for breakfast. The trailer trash Bloody Mary was a hoot filled with all sorts of goodies. It was raining and the roof leaked. No one was bothered as long as patrons were dry. Service and breakfast were excellent.
Wandered the property after watching tarpon fed by customers, gift shops, boating rentals etc. a really fun spot to visit. Will definitely return…

We spent about 1 hour walking the trails and reading about the trees and the park remnants. This park supposedly has the highest elevation on the island (18 feet above sea level).

Nice little rest from driving down to the Keys.
Several huts with table and seats to eat your lunch if you're lucky to find one vacant.

We stop at the gallery every time we're in Marathon to see what's new. Beautiful pottery & sculpture. Owner/artist is very friendly. Be sure to take the time to enjoy the garden; so pleasant. Shipping is well done & quick.

Yes, this is a real place and only in the Florida Keys can someone make a living blending arts and crafts with lobster traps.
Owner was there and really engaged with visitors in his shop. We wanted a different frame and only a few minutes before he brought it out.

If you like the Florida Keys and want to bring home a creative memory of underwater reef life, this might have your item. If you are a marine biologist or purist photographer, then the frames might be all you find.

An interesting small museum with a very nice series of movies. Tickets were a bit overpriced given the size and nature of the Center but i would still recommend it. Displays covered the railroad to Key West, indigenous history and ships. There was also a series of movies covering the keys and interesting events.

Interesting monument. Several years ago, there was a book ‘the storm of the century’ which was about this 1935 hurricane.

Pelican cove was very nice and very well maintained. Staff is very friendly! All rooms have great views! It has a nice pool and a nice beach area. On Saturday we were walking down the beach and ran into Patrick doing a fishing class on the jetty. He invited us to join and we caught fish immediately. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about fishing and the area. The resort is a quieter resort which we really liked. One of my best vacations in awhile. Allergic to land boat charter is on the property and we had a great boat tour for a reasonable price!!
