I attended a statewide conference on Captiva Island in early June and plan to return for R&R. We stayed @ the South Seas Resort and our villas were fantastic! Experienced the unbeatable west coast sunset on the beach. Definitely bring or plan to rent a bike to enjoy the trails and bike paths. Great variety of restaurants...try thr Grouper Oscar at the Bubble Room.

Such a cute church, very pretty location. Love to visit and learn more about the local history. Quiet and hidden away. Worth a look.

A visit to this place is how we start one of our vacation days on sanibel. Kids love searching for shells and this place never disappoints. They always find shells and an unexpected surprise or two from the sea. Go early for the best shells. Go anytime for shelling with kids. They will be entertained for hours.

Perfect spot for sunrise views and fishing, dolphin play in the pass, just a great place of nature adoration.

My wife and I always pop into this gorgeous gallery while on vacation from the UK. We have 4 paintings proudly hanging on our walls at home and many other pieces of handmade pottery, jewellery and ornaments. We always find something beautiful to buy and usually its ones of the artists working in the shop whose items you are buying. Support your local shops and artisans as they are the life blood of any community.

I don't think the ladies who work at the library get enough people who ask for their services, so they are especially eager to be helpful. They showed me a quick way to download e-books from the library site, which was hugely helpful to me. The historic displays are lovely. Great location by the historical cemetery and the Chapel-by-the-Sea.

This is a small, compact museum inside the library on Captiva.
It does not take long to learn a lot of the history of this little island community - very interesting and worth the stop. It is adjacent to the original cemetery and Chapel-by-the-Sea. Both of these are worth a stop to learn even more of the history of Captiva.

If you need a break from walking the beaches, shelling, biking, shopping, fishing or motor boats... give Captain Mick a call and enjoy a sail. Everyone must experience being on a sailboat in their lifetime and I can't think of a better location to to it than off the docks of Captiva. Heading out into the bay for a few hours was a relaxing, beautiful, calming time. Mick definitely will put you to work if you want, that was fun for our crew for sure. Raising the sails, reefing the main, steering the boat were just some of our duties. Yes the boat if on the worn side but that didn't detract from enjoying the peace you feel with the wind in the sails and hearing nothing else. We brought snacks along and had fun talking shop with Captain Mick. I would highly recommend this trip for a fun change of pace with friends or family.

$40 to park is just too much. Beautiful area but with only a portapotty and no other amenities (like a shower), the parking cost is just too much. Too many other good choices of beaches on Captiva and Sanibel.

Kevin was exceptionally great. I was honestly worried we’d be going on a “tourist” charter. But he did such an amazing job explaining where we were going, why, and how we’d be catching the fish. He called us all by name immediately. This added such a personal touch. Frankly, he felt like our friend within 5 minutes of getting on the boat. My boys and my wife (of course) caught so many fish and had so much fun. My older son and I caught a nurse shark and fought it for awhile, until we all got wore out and fortunately the line broke. I’d recommend Kevin to anyone coming to this area looking for a fishing charter. It sure beat Disney World!

The whole tour was perfect. We saw everything we wanted to see - manatees, dolphins, sharks, and all the shells we could carry. Everything was great. The kids had the best time.

Our family of 17 had a great day on the water parasailing with Captain Rob! Capt Rob and Captiva Watersports were professional, had well maintained and safe equipment, and ensured we all had a fun experience. We would definitely use them again for any future parasailing excursions and highly recommend them to anyone looking for the best parasailing outfitter on Captiva/Sanibel!

Great experience. We got to enjoy an amazing sunset and our guide showed us around the mangroves at dark. Nice not to get sunburned kayaking. Recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and safe adventure. No paddling experience needed.
