Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After visiting the St. Marks Lighthouse, we asked the docent to recommend a walk where we might see alligators. Kim was great, she gave us a map, circled her recommendation & off we went. We ended up seeing snowy egrets, a great blue heron, turtles sunning themselves and 6 alligators plus huge flocks of other birds which we have no idea what they were. This refuge is huge! it's quite a drive south of Tallahassee but well worth the drive and time. The day we went was sunny and delightful.

This is a charming park where you can ride your bike, walk or just sit on a bench and have lunch or enjoy the pond and scenery. It is serene and has a lot of history which is explained on the various boards around the park. You can stop at the Edison Restaurant for some wonderful refreshments and lunch and take in the peaceful surroundings. Highly recommend this park.

Traveling the panhandle and so glad we found this trail. We did 19 miles. The trail is beautiful. Cannot wait to do it again on our return trip.

Getting here can be interesting. There is a 2 mile gravel road to travel. One feels there can not be anything around and then it pops up. I have stayed here several times before and hubby camps here often. The beautiful lake is visible from all sites, no motorized crafts allowed, just canoe’s, kayaks. There are 10 sites, set in a circle around the lake front. Some (1-4) have electric and water, 5-10 are primitive. All sites have a fire ring, a grill, and picnic table. There is only one bathhouse which houses a divided separate toilet area, another separate area for a shower. Hot water was good with touch buttons for spray. These were clean on both sides.

Bread is bad for ducks, frozen peas are available for under $1 at Aldies and are much healthier for the ducks. Oats, carrots, and unsalted nuts are other healthy alternatives to bread. This spot is a nice place to relax and spend a day looking at the ducks, turtles, and cute shops and cafes surrounding it.

Alford Greenway is 700+ acres. A lot of land. Open land, forest trails and forested areas you can tramp around in. Keep your dogs on leashes, there are bobcats and coyotes in the back half of the park. Lots of deer if you get out right after daybreak. There are bicyclists and runners. Watch out for fast moving bicyclists and vice versa. And slow hikers, day hikers. No camping is allowed. Summer time after 11:00 a.m. is a poor time to go out in the back parts of the park because of bugs, yellow flies, horse flies etc. Trust me, they will eat you alive. Winter, Spring and Fall however are excellent times to visit Alford Greenway. If you walk right down the middle to the back of the park and back to the front, that is about a 2 hour walk depending on how fast you walk. There are gorgeous old oaks in various places, especially the part of the trail along Alford Arm water body. Suggest you carry a bottle of water with you if you plan to go to the back part of the park. There aren't many places to sit on a bench in the park. Last I looked, there were 3 benches, so not much. But its' not hard to find a patch of grass to lay down on and look at the clouds. You can visit this park a half dozen times and never have to walk the same set of trails. Its' extensive. Please remember to pick up your trash and someone else's if you can.

This is one of Tallahassee's best kept secrets. Actually, it feels like the Secret Garden. This park + garden is full of charm and beauty. It's a wonderful spot for a peaceful picnic to escape the busy city. Spring or early summer are my favorite time to stop in.

The massive Live Oak is the coolest part of the grounds. The cottage also looks like something out of a fairytale. The driveway was gated and there was a sign that said private property but everything online says it’s available to the public to visit. Looks like other people have also ran into the same thing. There was a car parked near the cottage but I didn’t see anyone on the grounds.

Great hiking trails, nice off-road biking trail, interesting items strewn around in the woods (i.e. "the car graveyard"), pretty views.

We drove the Miccosukee canopy road for the beauty of the area, and stopped at the first trailhead parking lot to take a walk. There are rest rooms and the trail is clearly marked with a map to get your bearings. We liked the trail, and found it to be an easy walk. The only downside is that the trail runs alongside the road and you can hear all the traffic.

It is a bit out-of-the-way (no gas stations for about 11 miles), but definitely worth a short visit. They ask for $3 to park (honor system where you put money in an envelope at the car park). There is plenty of space to park, there were only 2 other cars on a Sunday afternoon. They have bathrooms – however, the water was totally rusty, so not sure about washing hands in that. There were informative display signs throughout the walk. There was a wooden raised walkway you could view the mounds (as you are not allowed to climb on them). The park service is trying to clear out the overgrown brush and trees to make it look more like it did when it was built. There are trails to walk around. Nice for about an hour visit.
