There are multiple covered picnic areas, running/biking paths, a water park, a roped-off swimming area in a nearby lake (lifeguards on duty) and several large play structures for children of different ages.
Hawk Island is a wonderful green space in Lansing that has a small swimming area with a beach, an elaborate splash park for the kids to get wet and cool off, plus a very nice play area with wooden gym equipment.
