Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a great tour with Kathy, she had alot of information about the prison. Very cool seeing all the old buildings. We would go again.

It has been over 25 years since I visited the Capitol building, and it was almost like visiting for the first time. Everything I read (including the Missouri State Parks webpage) stated guided tours start on the hour. However, when we got there we were informed you have to book guided tours online at least 24 hours in advance. We took a self-guided tour. (They have a handy pamphlet to help you find your way round. ) The architecture was as beautiful as I remembered, and the paintings were breathtaking. We were disappointed that we couldn't go in the visitors galleries of the House of Representatives and Senate. There are windows in the doors to take a peek inside. A gentleman at the Capitol stated the visitor galleries are only open when the House and Senate are in session.
The Missouri State Museum is also housed inside the Capitol, and had very nice displays. If you want to see everything, make sure to plan your visit for a couple hours. We were here for about an hour and saw quite a bit, but not everything.

My Mother and I visited the mansion during the Christmas candlelight tour. The mansion itself is beautiful, and the Christmas made it even prettier. You only got to tour the first level of the home (minus the kitchen). You walked at your own pace, and there were docents everywhere incase you had a question. The Governor and his wife were home, and you could get your picture taken with them. Santa and Mrs. Claus were also there to have your picture taken with.

What Lewis and Clark accomplished was transformational - they, literally, changed history

This monument is beautiful and a must stop on your visit to Jefferson City

The Carl R Noren Access located below the US 54/63 HWY Bridge that crosses the Missouri River. There is ample parking, access to the walkway across the bridge, and also has walking trails along the riverbank.

Only one was open when I was there and it was the old store. Very neat with a small museum and a good look see of the landing prior to much there..

You must part on the street, but it is open for foot traffic. Some really really old grave sites. It was a pretty place.

I was in Jefferson City for a conference at the Capitol Plaza, and I decided to make a quick visit to the Supreme Court building, which is just down the street. The building is open to the public throughout the week. You just go in the front door, and then you have to clear security. Security was not a big problem, but they make you check your cell phone at the door before they allow you access to the building. If you want a tour, you head upstairs to the law library. The tour guide was out on the day I visited, but the state law librarian gave me a very informative tour of the building. The experience was interesting, but if you are new to Jefferson City - or especially if you are bringing kids to Jefferson City - do the Capitol first, and maybe even the Governor's Mansion. The Supreme Court building is interesting, but probably not as engaging or as important as those two places.
