There are trails for all ages, but I particularly want to recommend the Boone Fork Trail for families with teens or for very active adults.
It's a really easy hike to the waterfall and fun for the kids to get in the water and climb on the rocks.

The waterfall is a short walk from the road and along a well groomed trail, making it very easy to access for the whole family and a great way to stretch one’s legs after a long drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
My husband and I have visited with our children on many trips to the Blue Ridge and today, my younger daughter and I visited for a nice fall walk among the colorful foliage and the crisp mountain air.

If your kids are a bit older, you may want to try to hike the plunge trail to the bottom of the falls.
