- Joyce L5 contributionsThis was our second year in October to visit this business. We plan to go back next week to buy two or three bushels of apples to take home with us to share with friends, and for canning. Last year they had a greater supply of seconds/apples that were beautiful. There are plenty of apples available though. I want them for canning, so I like to buy seconds. Prices for seconds are very reasonable, but the pastry shop goods were quite pricey. The filling in the apple turnovers was disappointing in flavor, especially for the price. I'm an experienced cook, and they tasted like the brown filling might be dried apple slices rather than fresh apples, and just tasted bland, so I couldn't give five stars. My husband didn't care for them either. The apple cider, however, was awesome (5 stars), and my husband said the apple fritters were good and he would buy them again. I do recommend this business and would shop there again if I'm anywhere in this area. I believe it is important to support family-owned businesses.Written 21 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Glenn LWaynesville, NC175 contributionsAfter living in SW Virginia it was nice to see local products instead of resale of produce bought at a food warehouse. We met many nice people there selling there products that they grew.Written 28 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sv336North Carolina62 contributionsWe wanted to visit a quiet place with some local historic character in the general area west of Asheville, and Shelton House photo stood out while browsing through various websites. The house is open seasonally, and you should literally be there at the top of the hour to join the guided tour, as the main building, which is the subject of the tour, is locked otherwise. We had the pleasure of being guided by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide who led our small group through the rooms filled with artifacts belonging to the original family as well as donated by various members of the public. Such an interesting view into the life of a slice of the local population, somewhat of a middle class, through the period from after the Civil War through mid 20th Century. A great, relaxing, and meaningful conversation. Hats off to the group of enthusiasts who manage, maintain, and support this place, some of whom we also had a chance to meet briefly at the site. A breath of fresh air in the area getting overrun by overly commercialized attractions.Written 30 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnitaLake Junaluska, NC10 contributionsThis friendly church welcomes everyone of all ages. All aspects of the programs are worthy of further inquiry. There are classes for all ages, an excellent preschool & a very large youth group. The music at all three services is excellent. Come, you are welcome here.Written 9 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
