Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow, what an amazing day we had. We went here at the weekend for their Steam tour and afternoon tea, it was their first one ever and also our first visit. It was very well organised, very interesting, loved listening to John and his passion and love of Steam engines that has been passed down to him through his Dad and is continuing through his son. All the staff we met were very friendly and thoroughly enjoy working at Thursford. The afternoon tea was all hand made and very tasty. Seeing Steve fire up Victory, who is a beautiful old steam engine was a joy to see. Will definitely look out for the tour again next year and hopefully take our good friends with us next time.

I went with my family and we had a wonderful time. I've been on my own often but there was something special about being in a group with children. Thank you!

Great place to visit, only £8 each . Lots of hides to view birds, and we saw a monkjack up close. It was bigger than i was expecting. There are lots of serious birders with huge lenses , but i just used my iphone and got some good shots.. Its all board walks so great for accessibility

Great fun and a lovely day racing. Lovely setting and easy to get to. Loads of free parking and lots of eateries, bars etc but picnics ok too. casual dress or tweeds its up to you. Loads of bookies and great horse racing with big screens and commentary and as close to the action as you can get. Friendly place.

What a fascinating museum. We visited on a Thursday which fitted well with a trip to Fakenham market. Limited hours (Thursday and Friday 10.00 to 13.00 at the moment); run entirely by volunteers who are very knowledgeable and helpful. Watched the video first and then walked around the small site. Discussed the machinery and working conditions with a volunteer, who explained the impact of the work on the health of the men who often suffered from lung cancer and various other cancers due to the polluted conditions. Recognised my mum’s and granny’s gas fires amongst those in display. The exterior of the museum is rather understated when viewed from the road but well worth a visit. It is free to enter but we were happy to put a generous donation in the donation box as we feel it is important to keep this piece of industrial heritage alive, especially as it is the only remaining town gas site remaining in the UK.

This is a wonderful private estate in stunning grounds. The grounds have a beautiful church and lots of lovely walks. Not really touched in the same way that national trust etc manage properties so it is far more real and fun! Great concerts held here too.

We were staying local to here so popped in on our way to somewhere else. I am a sucker for a photo when it comes to old buildings and landscapes so when I saw this advertised I knew we would be visiting.
The ruins is only very small but that is what is so beautiful about it, there are a number of signs detailing the different parts and different ages of the abbey which one stood here. We enjoyed our time at the abbey and are glad we went.

For any keen photographer this is a must.

Can’t give you 5/5 as we didn’t realise the museum wasn’t open every day but had a long chat with one of your volunteers. I would point out that we followed the SatNav on NR21 7LX which we found on google but unfortunately this took us into a garage workshop - the guys there were very helpful and gave us directions also the correct postcode NR21 7RR.

We had Sunday lunch here whilst staying in our caravan, always lovely and very helpful staff.
Friday nights are now a family night, with two course dinner for £15 for adults, but if you have children with you, adult and a child’s meal is £15. Games are also proved for children to play with.
    Always love coming here.

An interesting walk around Fakenham , got a map booklet from the library foyer. You need a map to locate all the interesting buildings. The Junior School railings are not tob missed.

My friend and I enjoyed the glass making demonstration & then made Christmas baubles. Carl & Andrew were both very interesting to listen to and very patient in answering our endless questions!
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, everybody was very welcoming and friendly.
    Highly recommend

Visited this morning for the first time and had not read previous negative reviews but the ‘old’ lady may have. We had a lovely chat and the chapel is a treasure trove. I bought something which I love. If you visit it is a unique experience.
