Visiting Eastbury Manor House, we made the journey by rail out to Upney station to walk to the grade 1 National Trust house. Though until we walked in the door we were unsure if the house was open, as there appeared to be a problem with the website and attempts to contact on the phone were not answered. We spent an enjoyable 90 minutes looking at, viewing and reading the information about this house from the 1570's. The dry weather had impacted on the garden which was obviously waiting for much need rain. Finishing our look through the house, we stayed for lunch, though a number of the advertised lunch items, were still unavailable after midday.

St Margaret’s Church was once part of the Barking Abbey complex.
The ruins lie to the north of the church and are often used for the background for wedding photographs.
Started in the year 666 and grew to be a town in its own right 12 Abbesses became Queens of England and William the conquer ruled England from there whilst the Tower was being built.
The Church roof on the inside looks like an upside boat to reflect when Barking had the largest fishing fleet in the country, There is Fire Tower at the entrance to the churchyard this contains a Rood which was visited by pilgrims during the Middle Ages
Captain James Cook married a local girl there.
There is a cafe in the Hall at the side where food can be obtained at reasonable prices
I have visited numerous times over the years and always found something new to see.

And out of the blue, I was in Barking. A place that has as much in common with 'my home' as oil has with water.

I had been invited to visit this place just to 'check it out'. I was so surprised to see how out of ordinary of a 'church' this one is. Spirituality, storytelling, prayer, tea, cookies and lots of laughs.

It is like accidentally popping by your friends' house, friends you didn't even know you had and that actually missed you for a long time. The variety of people, ages, nationalities, backgrounds. All smiling and embracing, making it feel so natural for anyone to be there, it doesn't even matter if you really go to church or not. No one is judging. It is such a good vibe!

Every so often I go there, just for a pump of positive energy. It's like a vitamin complex for the soul. And the best of it, it feels like we truly belong.

Barking park, had a brilliant day here, they have a sand area with park, tennis courts, boating lake and a lido, when we visited the lido £8.00 for a family ticket, which is all enclosed with plenty of lawn area and hard ground for picnics - very safe, they also have extra pools around the water spurting area, my children went in the zoob balls in the pool, have to pay extra for this, and a bouncy castle, plenty of staff, one of the pools was out of action waiting to be cleaned - but we still had a good time

Brilliant experience for my 8 and 9 year old children . My son didn't want to do it but a man spoke to him for ages and even stayed with him by the cart as he went along for a little bit just to ensure he was ok . Because of this staff member my son had a fantastic time so thankyou! The sessions need more time to prepare in between for the next carters as otherwise there is a delay and then people complain. The staff need more time to ensure the go carts are set up correctly and that the people have their helmets on properly etc . This is not the staffs fault but the management and maybe they are trying to get too many sessions in. The staff on track were great and very alert to any problems . They run around or even get in a cart to go see if someone is ok . They work hard and my kids had an amazing time . We will definitely be returning , thankyou

Friendly staff, slightly more expensive but Inches cider on draught so don't mind, went in for one ended up staying for a few more, had tuna pizza which was good, entertainment good and room to dance, made new friends and we will definitely back. Thanks for an unexpected late but thoroughly enjoyable night

Uncivilised crowd ruined the evening. No complaints about staff. Staff was doing there job nicely. But such kind of people should be completely banned from everyone active if you don’t want to loose your potential clients. I would definitely not going back here because of few bunches of people.
There should be strict policies regarding civilised behaviour irrespective of age. Otherwise you guys will keep loosing your clients.
