We preferred the castle when we came a few years ago before it was tidied up,it has lost a bit of atmosphere now. However children with imagination were having a fine time running around. Its surrounded by sea views. You need to get a car park ticket even if you are members. It is free and was causing some confusion when we visited. The ticket office is also the shop, it was very busy, one queue for both.

Flat beach with peebles but without any golden sands, although there are some great views out to sea, with occaisional glimpses of the north coast of France, Closer by is the wind turbine farm, and given its location much shipping, some of it being cross channel, but mostly traffic to / from Europoort (Hoek of Holland) and the German ports.
The beach is quite special, with cafes, bars close with a good quality seawater.
As always, the beach is a great draw for children, although the sea can be quite rough, but does make for a good day out.

They may pay for exclusive use of every shelter a long the pier. It was a very beautiful sunny day . But the very strong ,very cold wind meant we had to curtail our rare opportunity to enjoy our promenade . There are strategic shelters along its length but they were all taken over by dishevelled people fishing . Dropping litter ,line and fish guts and oil every where. Can only assume that the pier being free they must pay to take over every bit of shelter going. Ruined our visit. Saviour of the the day . The BEACH HUT. The best ,fresh ice cream EVER ! very friendly service too. Roger ,the cleaning operative of the pier really had his work cut out for him. Will return if I find out how to pay for the right to shelter .

A group of us from the Seaside Museum in Herne Bay recently visited. We were very impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of the volunteers, and that they were open on a Sunday. The Deal Time Ball Tower was so fascinating to see in action and the museum tells its fascinating history. We spent over an hour in there and managed to see the time ball in action twice. An absolute must if you are visiting Deal. Thannn in s to all involved!

There are two museums in Deal and we visited the Maritme Museum on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Amazing place!

The Museum’s volunteers were extremely welcoming and engaging and knowledgable: important historical events and persons associated with Deal; architecture of this beautiful town; artefacts - including a lovely collection of Lifeboats parafernalia and facts about shipwrecks.

The Deal Maritime Museum contributed to making our first day of our short-break to Deal a highly enjoyable experience.

    Many thanks!

Great little theatre, views superb lines of vision to the stage, and wonderful, helpful volunteer staff who ensured that we had an excellent night.
The theatre has seen some history, but the seating was comfortable, the bar well stocked, and people really bought into the production. It was a memorable night

It's great to wander round Del's Old Town and read the information on the various signs giving the history of what you are looking at and Deal's seafaring history. There's quaint alleys and buildings, like the Timeball Tower (another link with Deal's seafaring history) and, of course, Deal Castle. You'll be surprised at how far you wander.

It is a great little market with friendly stallholders with a great atmosphere. Some items can be a bit pricey but there are always nicknacks you can pick up. Great crockery stall, the History Hub is always informative and the fruit and vegetables are good quality and reasonably priced.
With the flowers, like most shops, I would rather they weren't wrapped in plastic, but traditional paper.Good little places for coffee.
    Really worth a visit.

This area is prefect to stride out on foot or push bike. Good area for play equipment. A coal mine Museum on site. It's the parking area. Why the Blue Badge parking has yet to be improved is beyond me. Very stupid and selfish parking in this small area is horrid. The Blue badge must be shown at reception so not to receive a PCN. Clear signage please and fines as to walk a little if in pain could be achieved but not the far side of the parking area.
