Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

    The best cocktails anywhere!
We are regular visitors to The Pharmacy and always have a lovely evening here. The service and drinks are exceptional.

The food was lovely and extremely filling leaving no room for dessert. The service was excellent and the staff very attentive. Good selection of wines, ales and larger.
The venue itself is very quirky. We've been to Sandwich many times but didn't know it was a restaurant. It is very popular with the locals and now we know why. Good food, good beer and friendly staff, what more could you want.

On a day out in Sandwich with our Golden Retriever Lucy. Having had a lovely walk around we decided it was time for a spot of lunch Looking for somewhere to eat we had take to take into account Lucy who is a bit on the large size. Fortunately we came across the New Inn. Asked first if it was OK to take in Lucy and couldnt have been made more welcome. Ladies behind the bar were great, really friendly and welcoming. The food was really good and had Ghost Ship with a local brew on tap, Locals were also very friendly All in all a great place to eat and relax. Thoroughly recommended

In addition to the main market square area of Sandwich, the other area with a bit of life is at the intersection of the High Street and the Quay. As well as a few decent restaurants along the Quay here you will find the Bell Hotel, the sadly currently closed Admiral Owen and the Crispin Inn.
The Crispin Inn is an interesting pub of clearly some substantial age, especially as it is joined to the historic Barbican toll bridge gate house, which dates from the 14th century and is the only remaining gate house from the towns historic defensive wall when it used to be on the coast.
It is best entered from the High street entrance as this brings you to the pleasant traditional beamed main bar and separate snug area to the left of the bar. We actually entered from the quay side where you have to walk through the covered outside courtyard drinking area and then snake through the fairly plain dining room area which initially gives first time visitors the feeling that you have made a bit of a mistake coming here, until you finally find the bar.
The low ceiling, bare floor and brick walled bar has a homely feel and the furniture here has clearly seen some life. The bar itself, which sports a particularly fine display of Kentish hops along the bar top has six ale and cider pumps. One was not in use and with Old Rosie Cloudy Cider on one this left four ales on in the shape of Harvey’s Sussex Best, Timothy Taylor Knowle Spring and two badged Crispin Ale and Crispin Pale Ale which are brewed by the Nearby Mad Cat Brewery near Faversham. We tried both the Mad Cat brews and they were decent enough and served in good condition.
It was a fine day so we took our beers outside. Unfortunately the covered courtyard doesn’t seem to get the sun but there are a couple of external metal tables and chairs placed riverside on the other side of the Fisherman’s Wharf and we managed to get one of these in this pleasant spot, and whilst there also enjoyed the spectacle of the road swing bridge being opened to let a sailing craft go down the River Stour.

Friendly staff who fitted us in last minute. Ordered the roast but no mention of the veg you wanted lots of peas, sweetcorn and a mountain of gravy. Lamb shank was very tasty just wish we could pour on our own gravy and it hadn't had quite so many peas!

This is an amazing find in sandwich.
A first class craft beer bar with first class knowledgable staff and excellent beers.
The IPA’s and Sour I tasted were very good.
Probably the best place to get quality fresh beer in the area.
    This is a perfect gem.
    Thanks for the hospitality James.

We called in for a pint with our border collie and sat outside enjoying the comings and goings. There was a nice atmosphere and the outside bar was kept clean and tidy. Good pint too! We plan to return and try the restaurant without the dog.

We just stayed here for one night, what a great experience. It is a beautiful quaint building set in a beautiful small village. Check in was so friendly as were all the staff we met. Dinner was absolutely awesome, the food was superb and the service excellent. We sat in the bar after dinner, it is a lovely place to sit and the garden is huge. Breakfast was top class, they don't scrimp on portions or quality at this lovely old pub. Our twin room was lovely and clean and the beds very comfortable indeed. This is a great location, we will definitely be returning and recommending. Thank you to all the staff and management at this hidden gem.
