Beautiful Gardens, full of insects and colour. Only spoiler - expensive cake for small slices. Otherwise an afternoon well spent

What a fantastic experience this has been. A very unique wartime house with a hard working team who showed us around telling stories and learning the history of ww2. This was followed by afternoon tea, high quality and beautifully presented food. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. We will definitely be returning.

As a family we have been to watch the speedway a few times. We have always found the stadium to be great family friendly fun. We can have a bite to eat, something to drink whilst we watch the most exciting sport in Kent.

It seems to attract everyone from the very young to the very old, male & female.
If you’ve not been before your in for a great treat.

Went to one of the summer opening days in August.
Staff were friendly and their talks were great. The trained sheep was good fun. My kids enjoyed the cuddle corner and goat walks. Shame the train closes at lunchtime, perhaps staff can be rotated but overall we enjoyed our day out.

Nice to walk around - could spend a good couple of hours here as there are many routes heading in different directions. Mixture of gravel and grass paths. Quite popular for dog walkers and sometimes in the summer, you can be playing ‘dodge the …’

£10 per person to get in. Betting is fun and easy to do for the beginner. It's a bit tired and dated inside, feels a bit like a CIU club but enjoyable night out for adults and kids.

the church has been on its current site since the 600s. It has one of the largest towers in Kent and the country. The bells have recently been overhauled and 2 new ones added giving an 8 bell peal. The church is normally locked but the key can be obtained by calling the number in the porch.

This church is in a quiet location and a short walk up a hill from the village. On most walls are a multitude of old plaques, some for folk who died as far back as 1747. The floor is part tiled and part brick and did not suffer a makeover by the Victorians. Most windows are of coloured glass so it is a little dark inside.
There are three columns of wooden pews and the church is in two similar parts parted by five large stone arches. There are two altars, one each at the head of the church and behind them thin, coloured glass windows. The underside of the roof is of wood and wooden roof beams are visible.
The most impressive item is the 13th century painting of St Francis of Assisi which is close to a window and it is the only example of an image of him painted in the U.K. in this century.
A wonderful church to visit an there is a smart information booklet about it available at one pound fifty pence.

If you like old churches you will love this one with a very old lead font with its weighted cover. Great surroundings with the old Thames Barge moored on the creek .

The staff were wonderfully helpful. I was short of time but worth a visit when I have more. I found the books that I was looking for.
