This is a lovely long beautiful beach. It was mild and sunny when we walked along the beach from the resort that we were staying at to the centre of Filey. We had lots of fun finding stones and shells and lobster tails and exploring the ruins and shelters.

Visited today for the tour with hubby. It was his birthday gift from the kids. What a fabulous experience. Our guide was excellent. I am sorry that I can’t remember her name (Polish lady), but she was excellent. She made the tour very interesting and was very knowledgeable. Tasting was great, we even bought two bottles. We finished with lunch in the pot still cafe - excellent. Can highly recommend 👍

Popped in here for a couple of hours and I can say it was a nice visit … A but bigger than I thought it would be … The animals all seemed happy ( despite what was a wet day ) … It was easy to get around and you can buy a small bag of animal feed too … There was also a nice little cafe and gift shop … Staff were friendly too

Filey Brigg is a long peninsula about a mile north of Filey town centre. It stretches out into the sea and creates one of the barriers that define the extent of Filey Beach.

Filey Brigg is composed of two parts - the Brigg itself, which is the long stretch of rock that reaches out to sea, and the more inland part which is known as Carr Naze, and it was here that my family and I parked.

This is in part because it is the easiest and most logical part to access in a car and with a child, and also because it has a few facilities on hand, such as a nice play park and a small shop that services the on site camp-site.

We had lovely views out to see and of the Brigg itself, and as I say, were able to keep a 2 year old happy.

My personal history however is on the Brigg itself. Many a time when I was young I would picnic on the Brigg and fly kites. Such happy memories.

There is some terrific history here too. The Carr Naze part of Filey Brigg has yielded a whole host of Roman artefacts, some of which are currently located in the Filey Crescent Gardens (which I will visit the next time I'm in Filey) and can be viewed. The belief is that there was a Roman watchtower (or similar) on the site, some of which has been discovered by antiquarians, and some of which has been lost to the sea via cliff erosion.

It's a wonderful place, full of history and full of happy memories for me. I hope to make many happy memories with my family over the coming years.

Delightful gardens to walk through, very well maintained and still with a little colour at this time of year, plenty of benches to take a breather on and admire the view out to sea.

We had been to the park before and knew it had good facilities in a lovely setting, so we were really looking forward to going on the boating lake and crazy golf with our granddaughters. We were very disappointed to find that although we got there before the stated closing time, we were not allowed on either because they actually close 15 minutes earlier. There were lots of families who had just come up from the beach so it would have been worth their staying open a little longer in school holidays, though I appreciate that the staff would be tired. If it could be made clear that last entry is earlier than the time given, it would be very helpful.

On a road called 'The Beach' that, perhaps unsurprisingly, runs parallel to Filey Beach, is a larger steel statue of a Fisherman called 'A High Tide in Short Wellies.'

The larger than life fisherman is holding a fishing rod and staring determinedly out to sea. Oddly, at his feet is a fish wrapped in paper, and a rat. There is undoubtedly some symbolism here, but for the life of me I can't suss it out.

At the base of the statue, on the newspaper wrapped fish, is this pleasant verse:

A HIGH TIDE IN SHORT WELLIES
That's it for me, I'll see you later
gonna wrap this catch in protective paper gonna face the sea with a thousand mile stare
and wish that I was floating there
    In its summertime.
Down on the pier I saw a man with a board.
It read 'the end is near, accept your lord'
Then underneath this some fisherman wrote, 'I can see the end from the back of my boat' This is wintertime

The statue was donated to the people of Filey by a Mrs Maureen Robinson, in honour of her husband's 76th birthday.

Its definitely a landmark - a quirky one for sure - but a landmark without question. I made it my mission to see this statue when inknew I'd be in Filey, and I am delighted that I did.

The museum has 4 rooms downstairs and 4 rooms upstairs. Although she said well behaved dogs were welcome we took it in turns waiting in the garden as it was a lovely day. It’s only £2.50 and was interesting to walk around.

Beautiful quiet and simplistic site. We went with our 5 children and they entertained themselves for hours on the large grassed area and purpose built dog walk. Lovely clean facilities with hot running water. Lots to do in surrounding areas just a short drive away. We will be back again, thank you for having us 😁

Just a short walk from the town centre you come to this very quiet and serene church with a large graveyard which is absolutely beautiful inside.

We tackled a stretch of the Wolds Way from Filey. We enjoyed a variety of beautiful landsscapes, some amazing bird life and plenty of butterflies and wild flowers.

You don't have to pay for parking or entry, it's run on donations, the hides were clean, there is lots of information about the birds, all in all, a great place for birdwatching.
