Bempton was the unexpected highlight of a 3wk walking and nature viewing trip around Yorkshire and the Dales.

Timing, early July, caught the last of the Puffins, but there are lots of other fascinating birds to see.

Bempton is full of wildlife, sea birds, butterflies, and wild flowers.

Fabulously well run by RSPB, with very friendly and helpful volunteers.

Due to extensive shooting estate persecution elsewhere in Yorkshire, we saw far more birds of prey / raptors at Bempton than anywhere else in the county.

We had a fabulous view of Bemptons beautiful resident owl.

    Strongly recommended.
Easily reachable on a day trip from York.

Fantastic meerkat experience - so friendly. Be prepared for little footprints all over you but definitely worth it. Totally enjoyable

This place is amazing. The model village is excellent for kids and not so kids by the look on everyone's faces. The breakfast in the cafe really should be an award winner it is so good. The cafe has an inside and outside experience making it great for any kind of weather. Try it, it is so much better than average.

While Flamborough Lighthouse is a stunning spot on the Yorkshire coast, our visits have been a bit hit-or-miss, with the lighthouse itself being shut each time we’ve come. It’s a bit disappointing not to have had the chance to climb to the top and take in the views and learn more about the lighthouse.

However, despite the lighthouse being closed, there's still plenty to enjoy around the site. The dramatic cliffs, the charming seals, and the well-placed selfie stand with its fantastic backdrop make the visit worthwhile. Even without access to the lighthouse, the area’s natural beauty offers more than enough to keep you engaged.

Really pretty little hidden gem at the end of a short woodland walk. Decorated with really pretty white stones (a lot of which are "hag stones") with a mix of sand too. If you head up onto the cliffs, you can also go for a nice walk towards North Landing/Flamborough Head, it's pretty much a straight line there.

Car park nearby is quite cheap (around £5 for 24 hours, which is the max) and can be paid with cash, card, or via app. Also has free toilets near the car park and a small café.

Love this place. Ideal for dogs and children and lots to explore. Be mindful there is a very steep hill to get back up to the car.

Very good and clean beach, only problem is the shop is rarely open so it needs more shops near there as it’s a long walk to the town where the shops are

The most amazing views. We parked the car and walked to the headland. A fairly easy walk.

The headland, the cliffs and the beaches/ bays below are absolutely stunning.

Highly recommended. Well worth going out of your way for.

Stopped here en route from Hornsea to Scarborough. Busy fun place. Great seaside town. Much, much livelier than Hornsea.

We spent two hours here an really enjoyed it. We visited the harbour too.

Highly recommended when in the area.
