It's very well organized especially their interactive "Amazing Butterflies" exhibit which walks kids through a life cycle of a butterflies in a maze format with questions and activities for the kids.
The museum itself is so beautiful with amazing architecture and our little boy really enjoyed the live animal show, digging for fossils and the floor with activities and displays catering to young children.

Lots of activities for kids, beautiful walks for friends and lovers, well-supplied gift shop, and an incredible cafe that has healthy, delicious and fresh foods.
A section is also devoted to educating children about eating right and healthy, plus a fairy garden where you find little winged delights and little ponies stationed under plants and blooms.

I recommend parking at the bottom in the Carson St lot (because it's easier to find a parking spot there) and riding up to Mt. Washington - kids like walking over the bridge on Carson St. Fantastic view at the top.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and have made dozens of trips to check out the views, but still find myself in awe each time I take visiting friends or family to check it out.
