Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Probably the best Sunday carvery we have ever had (and I’m 65, so I’ve had a few!). A very friendly and warm welcome awaits. All meats cooked to perfection (I’m fussy about beef and this was unbelievably tender). The roast potatoes were perfect, as was the entire comprehensive accompaniment of fresh vegetables. Hot plates and lovely juicy gravy. These caterers really know how to make an impact. Top chef, top staff, top marks. Well done Bridport Golf Club 😃

We've been to the Royal Oak a couple of times as we have friends who are regulars there so a visit to the Royal Oak is a definite whenever we get to Somerset. My friend booked a table and we were all set.

When we arrived the landlord told us it was 'your regular table' so we knew where we were sitting and after getting a round in we sat at our table. The waitress was ninja-like in how quick she was at our table to take our order - she was lovely, friendly and professional. As we were there on a Sunday lunch-time it would have been rude not to have the roast. They offer the choice of regular or large size roast which consists of the choice of one of three meats or a mixture of all three (result). You get the usual accompaniments: roast potatoes / Yorkshire puds and loads of vegetables - all cooked well. Anyone opting for the large roast gets more roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings on their plate.

I opted for a regular roast as I wanted a dessert which I duly ordered, in fact three of us opted for dessert which were: Eton Mess (looked good) / Sticky Toffee Pudding (which is light as a feather - I've had this before and it is delicious) and Chocolate Brownie Sundae (the brownie was warm and the dessert was scrummy). I can recommend the sticky toffee and brownie sundae - I'll let you know about the other desserts once I've tried them ;-)

We checked out the menu in anticipation of more trips to the Royal Oak and they have a great menu with vegetarian options also available.

The food is good, tasty, delicious (take your pick), the prices are extremely reasonable and the staff are very friendly.

On a side-note the pub has had a facelift during lockdown and looks great and still has all the charm of a local, village pub. Well worth a visit if you're in the area but remember to book a table before you turn up :-)

This tavern is small but nice. It has a mobile van in the courtyard which serves fantastic thai food. We have eaten there a few times and have never been disappointed.

Stopped here for coffee late morning. We ordered a latte, mocha and cappo - pleasant staff and decent coffee, good price too.
