On a wet and windy afternoon, this was a must visit very educational and enjoyable, an easy 2 hours spent reading and looking at all the artefacts, staff extremely friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable on the museum.
Thank you from an old and new pensioner

We've been past a few times but were finally able to call on one of the days they steam the boiler to work some machinery. It's a small gasworks built to supply just the town, and it tells the story of the development of gas supply (and the by-product of coke for industrial and domestic uses), including the explosions caused - mostly in London - when workmen went underground looking for gas leaks with naked lights.

45 minutes was enough to watch a video (on an antique VCR), see the displays, talk to the volunteers, and learn a lot.

I have been there with my kids aged 8 and 5 and it was their first time. The first surprise was the theatre itself which is carved inside the house itself with that beautiful painting depicting The Sleeping Beauty according to a Russian Medieval book at the entrance. Pips and Panda adventure was funny and the show was long enough to leave the kids entertained. They had so much fun and when I asked to my youngest what was wrong when the show was over he said "too short" with a sad face. My eldest loved when the two characters got into the wee submarine and played "Octopus Garden" by the Beatles. It was nice to see the adults to sing along with their wee ones when Jingle Bells and other songs were on the stage. Funny indeed!

Kudos to the puppet masters. I have been impressed when Pips took a message from a bottle and it was impressive to see the movements done by the puppets, they looked real. They have set a screen on the stage so this added more magic to the show. It is clear that here proper Artists were behind the stage.

Fun fact: after the show, when I was collecting the jackets, I think we met one of the Masters, a lovely auld man, and when he asked to my youngest if he liked the show he said "no"... Gees, wee shy lad.

This monument is in tribute to the men of the parish of Carnwath who died in the fighting of the two world wars. The monument features a two stepped base supporting a tapering plinth and an unusual looking cross which I don’t even know how to describe. The face of the cross is carved with a sword surrounded by Celtic knot work pattern carved around it, all in low relief. The monument is at the junction of Edinburgh road and A721, and sits nicely in a grassy area bisected by a path leading up to it.

There tends to be a limited amount you can say about War Memorials and, from the technical side, a previous reviewer has covered it all. Suffice to say therefore that this is an attractive monument in a well-kept area of this smart little town. Certainly worth a look.
