Rovinj - the most beautiful magical place. Along with other destinations, we have holidayed here yearly since 2017 (except for 2020 pandemic!) and never tire of wandering this fabulous town. Picturesque and charming with a friendly vibe. Our most recent visit being June 2024.

In the Old Town, you are fooled into thinking you might be in Italy with the narrow alley ways and Venetian style buildings. There is something to see around every corner. Tucked away bars and restaurants to find, along with art galleries and shops displaying many hand made quality goods. Our favourite restaurant is "Mali Raj" (Little Oasis in English) serving outstanding steaks and seafood which is found high up through meandering streets. Our bar of choice is "Mediterraneo", where you can sit on the rocks or on low stools looking out to sea and the Istrian Island of Katerina.

We have stayed in many private apartments within the Old Town, and all have been extensively modernised inside to offer excellent accommodation. The great thing about the Old Town is that the exteriors of the buildings cannot be altered to detract from their old charm.

Bars and restaurants also line the waterfront in the harbour giving many other options to enjoy wonderful Croatian food and drink. There are no English bars in the town, and long may that continue.

Away from the Old Town, there are many outstanding luxury hotels, of which we have stayed in too. The Hotel Lone is a superb choice. There are many beaches (cobbles) ;, those in front of the luxury hotels with loungers and parasols, and more secluded ones reached by leisurely walks or taking a bike ride.

I could write endlessly about this idyllic town/resort which has not been influenced by the tourists but instead draws them into enjoying Rovinj just as it should be - Croatian.
See you again in September Rovinj xx

This is an amazingly maintained Roman amphitheatre which reminded us very much of the Rome colosseum. You can explore inside and they have a small exhibition. Nothing special if you have been to Rome, but if not - this is a great place to see!

NATURE PARADISE ON CAPE KAMENJAK NEAR PREMANTURA If you are in Premantura you must visit this place. It’s a crazy sort of prefabricated hut completely hidden in a maze of bamboo grass. It is situated in nature, there you will find lots of shade and the playground for kids.

Tips: You can get there free with a bike or just walk, with a car you need to pay entrance for the Cape Kamenjak.

This is a superb water park, and perfect for kids of the age of our two boys, who are ten and twelve. It is busy, and the queue for one of the rides was 30 mins or more but there were no queues at all for others. It will happily keep the kids entertained for half a day or more.

    Three hints:

    (i) plenty of sun cream, as you are unlikely to spend much time in the shade;

(ii) wear a rash vest or t-shirt if you are there for more than a couple of hours (there is plenty of sunburn on display); and, most of all,

(iii) wear your beach shoes. The paths are blisteringly hot, even if you are used to walking on hot beaches, and one of our party has large blisters from the heat. There are lockers into which you can put flip flops or sliders but the best solution is to wear beach shoes all the time.

We strolled through the small alleys for two evenings. The flair of these alleys is beautiful and definitely worth to visit. Also for foodlovers like me because there are tons of good restaurants

Great day at aquacolours today. Clean, well maintained and good signposting. Easy to navigate. The best thing was the relatively short waiting times compared with other water parks we have visited. We were there on a Friday in July, and rarely had to queue more than 10 minutes for a ride.

A few issues resulted in a 4 as opposed to a 5 start review. 1) Most important, the staff are not very focused on the rides, and i frequently saw people getting in rides incorrectly or going down slides without following instructions. The 3 life guards at the wave pool were chatting and having snacks during the 10minute wave session (excellent fun but could be dangerous for smaller children as waves to uk to 2 meters). In other parks life guards would be very attentive during those periods. 2) the spheres is a dangerous ride - my daughter got knocked out of her tube going on down it and hit her head; and I got stuck in the first sphere so only could move when a child came down after me and bumped into my tube. His father then came down and the three of our tubes were all bashing against each others in the sphere. There was no staff keeping an eye. 3) there were no staff on some rides so no queue management until Later on the day.

But saying this, we had a great day. There is plenty to do for 9 years and up. With smaller children you might be more limited, (unless they are used to water parks and slides). We thought the food options were fine; and priced in line with other water parks. And the bubble waffles were an afternoon hit. We all love the wave pool in particular. The magicone was great fun for 4 people. But it will be even better when the conveyor belt is fixed and you don’t need to carry the heavy inflatables up the hill. But all in all a very fun day out!

    We wondered if

Beautiful island, the Mediterranian garden is a must see, amazing flora and fauna. Was disappointed with how the island is managed. They earn a lot from tourism; yet the bicycles that you can rent (and which are pricey) are in an extremely bad shape, to bring your own costs way too much. Some buildings just need a bit of investment and care.
Tip: we bought the tickets online and it wasnt mentioned that if you dont buy a guided tour, you can't take the train to the safari park, you can't pay for it separately. Wish we knew that.

What a wonderful experience. Patrizia was a perfect host. Friendly and knowledgeable. I opted for the Taste of Istria, with 8 wines and local finger food paired with the wines.
The wines themselves were very impressive, across the range, sparkling, white and red with the finale of the mistletoe grappa a great finish. This is a great way to experience the finest wines the area has to offer and it also represents unbelievable value for money! If you are a wine novice or someone with a good wine knowledge it’s a great way to spend a couple of hours.

It costs €4 to climb the tower which does not take long. The stairs are very dodgy, some bowing when you step on them, others are very thin. You can see to the bottom between steps which is not good for those who are scared of heights.

The view at the top is spectacular and worth the cost. Great 360 degree views of Rovinj.

It would be good to see the € go towards replacing the stairs and making it safer. I can see an accident happening soon and it being closed which would be a shame
