What travellers are saying
- TheAviator0765Ripon, UK602 contributionsWe are very familiar with the Three Valleys through many years of skiing in the locality, but this was out first time in Summer. St Martin was a wonderful base for a summer holiday, here's why:
1. Easily accessible. Just two hours'ish from Geneva, 30 minutes from Moutiers, and you are in the heart of the French Alps.
2. This is a genuine, working, lived-in alpine village. It has a heart and soul.
3. Some excellent accommodation options. We stayed in Les Chalets du Gypse, reviewed separately.
4. Well served with the essential shops, including a small supermarket, an excellent patisserie and a pharmacy.
5. Some terrific restaurants, our favourite was La Montagnard with a beautiful terrace overlooking the village and mountains to the west.
6. For the active: hiking; trail running; mountain-biking; wild swimming; via Ferrata plus other activities. Lots of organised activities for children too.
7. For the cultural: a fine museum; a vibrant Thursday market; hub to a network of walks through verdant lower alpine meadows.
8. A rich itinerary of events and activities. Our stay coincided with the beer festival and some excellent live music.
9. From July to September the St Martin Gondola and St Martin Chairlift are open. The former will take you directly to the excellent Corbeleys mountain restaurant, the latter to the summits above, the start of great trails for hiking, running or mountain biking, or simply to admire the awesome views.
10. A short drive south: Les Menuires, a little further on, Val Thorens, with all they have to offer.Written 30 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve HTelford, UK134 contributionsGreat resort if you intend to ski the 3 valleys, as it is slightly cheaper then further up the mountain at Val Thorens, Meribel and Courchevel. We stayed in the Les Menuires Hotel and Sap a super place to be based. In fact already booked for next year
There are many apartments and hotels based around the base and I am told they are reasonable to rent.
There is a shopping centre but not that big, quite a few restaurants also with a fair pricing.
A free bus service if you rent away from the main resort and easy access to the slopes
And the 3 valleys more or less guaranteed snow and a longer season than most.Written 24 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My youngest son was in the 3-star youngster course, my wife in the mid tier group and my oldest son and myself in the 3-star group. Alexis mentioned us he would not only train us on the activities we needed, but he would show us also some of the environment. And indeed: we went off-piste, learned something about avalanches and had a beautiful experience. Certainly recommended!Written 20 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MCol1 contributionHighly recommend. Great tuition for adults and kids. My 11 year old loved his intermediate ski group. Really friendly and lessons were all in English. Ladies in the office were super helpful too. My teacher was Daniel - excellent! Private lessons also fantastic for skiing and snowboarding. Teachers really care and want to help and tailor advice individually.Written 4 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Julie P9 contributionsI booked online for access to the spa facilities & pool for the week whilst staying in the resort and on arrival my membership card was, as promised, waiting at reception. The staff are efficient and very pleasant and the facilities are great. With the weekly access fee you get a fresh towel every visit so no need to bring your own (daily access there is a charge of 5 euros for a towel).
I really enjoyed my visits to the spa and a very much looked forward to a daily swim after skiing in the swimming pool and this was only spoilt by some parents of small children in the pool at busy times throwing a ball over the top of swimmers that were already trying to "dodge" other swimmers which I thought should not have been allowed. On quiet days that was not a problem but when it is busy it should not be allowed by the pool staff.
Also similarly, small children were allowed in the jacuzzi with parents which I normally would not have a problem with but the parents did not ask them to sit still in the jacuzzi and were messing about which meant that others in the jaxuzzi were not able to just sit and relax as often got kicked and feet jumped on by some of the small children.
These two points were the only negative experiences as everything else was first class and would have scored it full marks.Written 30 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Beginner and never even put a ski on this was somewhat daunting. But from
The very first time I met Chloe and the group I was at ease. I was 1 day behind the others in the group due to our family only arriving on the Sunday, Chloe advised an individual lesson the following day to catch up
To the others in the group, which was a really great piece of advice. I can’t believe how far the whole group came in 5 days. I went from a non skier on day 1 to being able to ski down a blue slope with my younger daughter on day 6, just the 2 of us, and this was all down to Chloe from EFS and her patient and excellent teaching. The whole week was amazing and we have caught the skiing bug.
Thank you to everyone at EFS and especially Chloe, see you all next season.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Would recommend them highly for customer service on this basis. Thank you, Simon and Joe.Written 5 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bolderclimber62 contributionsWe visited and had a good relaxing time here. My partner had a sports massage which helped her with aches and pains. The hammam, steam, jacusszi and sauna facilities were all good value for the price your pay. Also easy to ski in and out of!Written 4 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
