The St James Anglican church was worth visiting for the interesting old gravestones, the architecture, the views, its character and the feeling of history.
The view of the Kerikeri Basin is good also, looking down to the Stone Store & House.

On the way you'll see sheep and beef stations, views down the Kerikeri Inlet to Paihia, Russell and beyond, and pass the prestigious Bay of Islands International Academy.
We took the walk to the Marsden Cross which is the site of the first Christian church service in NZ and a well documented part of early Pakeha life in this wonderful spot on NZ.

You'll get great, elevated, sweeping views of the incredible Bay of Islands, and a beautiful hike through regenerating native NZ bush.
What a stunning view and would be a lovely place to go and relax away your worries.

That allows you to do the guided historical walk (our guide was fantastic; so passionate, knowledgable and entertaining), watch the cultural performance, tour the grounds and view the museums.
... house, the boat house (where the worlds largest ceremonial war canoes are housed), an impressive carved meeting house, as well as beautiful grounds with well marked walking paths and sweeping views of the bay.

However with its excellently curated museum, beautiful views, cultural entertainment, informative and friendly guides, this visit has lots to see and do for people of all ages.
The museum was recommended by our B&B host, but we weren't as impressed by the museum itself, as by the grounds around it, the mansion on the hill, and the amazing view.
