What travellers are saying
- Jeana PRaleigh767 contributionsWe enjoyed ourselves. We had our two pups with us, so we had to walk to a certain section of the beach that is pet friendly. It is called the “unprotected” area because there is no lifeguard. However - it is much less crowded. At least it was at the time and day we were there. We were able to sit quietly and enjoy the ocean views with no one around. We saw seals which was exciting. Locals know to bring their own umbrellas and coolers of food so - FYI. The facilities they have are very nice (restrooms and showers). The parking lot is large. When we were leaving in the early afternoon, very many people were arriving, so the day and time you go may affect your satisfaction with this beach.Written 16 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CapeCodgirl71Underhill, VT273 contributionsTerrific well-marked walking trails through marshland teaming with birds and marine life. Sophisticated, informative exhibits and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great location right off 6A. Child-friendly. Benches. Restrooms. You would spend all day here!Written 13 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert H23 contributionsA great hike with amazing views , trails were not well marked and we as well as several other groups we met were constantly lost off trail before regaining direction, Despite that we still had a great time and highly recommend.Written 26 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BLMerceKensington, MD907 contributionsWe went after hours so the Visitor Center was closed. Lovely views from the handicapped ramp leading up to a platform. The original site is marked and the hike around the area was nice. There are restrooms there.Written 14 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Meg GWest Simsbury, CT95 contributionsEasy, breezy hike. Well established path to wooden decking in the swamp. So close to the ocean walk. It’s a nice trail.Written 13 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steve CHarwich, MA344 contributionsThe opening show of the summer season is David Mamet's "Race", and you really should race to go see this before it ends on June 28. This is an excellent production that hits all the right notes, from the opening music to the somewhat quick and sudden ending.
The set is one of the better ones done by the WHAT in awhile, and a partuculary nice touch is the city scene through the window.
The four person cast has three members of the Actor's Equity Association, and each one is so perfectly cast. John Mooi as Jack Lawson, the white lawyer, fits into his role like a glove.
The WHAT is the best venue on the Cape. Besides a convenient location and ample parking, there is the Box Office, a nice lobby with a concession stand that serves alchoholic beverages, and most important, there are comfortable seats that are tiered for excellent viewing from any seat in the house.
Don't wait, RACE to the WHAT.Written 20 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PowerTrippersCocoa Beach, FL1,296 contributionsDuck Harbor Beach is a quiet beach well off the beaten path. It takes some effort to get here on small, winding roads but the payoff is worth it.
The beach is full of driftwood, which was why my wife wanted to come here. She uses driftwood for her art projects. She found a lot of great pieces while I relaxed on the beach.
The beach itself is pretty large, so if desired you can generally set up well away from any other humans. The beach is pretty rocky though, so shoes or sandals are useful. It’s also a bit smelly and I was being pestered by flies while I was sitting.
Still, a very nice off-the-beaten-path beach, especially if you’re into driftwood.

Sure the water is cold and it’s a hike up and down the steep dunes, but those two things people complain about are pros (not cons to me).
The beach doesn’t get very busy because people are too lazy to make the trek. The tide is so fierce that you can only go out in the water a few feet until getting pushed back in, but it makes it fun.
The ocean is so loud that you can’t hear people that are 15 feet away from you, which makes it feel like no one else is there.
There are also sea lions that you can pretty much always see floating by in the summer.
The only reason I wouldn’t rate this higher is because I don’t want more people to know about it.
I used to go to cape cod 5-6 times a summer and always had a good time. Now I am never going to another beach on the cape.
Beachcomber is awesome too.Written 24 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My favorite pieces were way too expensive for me, but there were some delightful cards and other smaller things that I bought. Like walking around a museum, really a joy to browse.Written 2 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter_01039Western Massachusetts603 contributionsUncle Tim’s Bridge is a hidden gem of the Outer Cape. Parking is free (with a box for donations) and convenient. The bridge crosses an estuary to Hamblen Island, a small island with a network of easy trails and benches. Our favorite part of our stroll was viewing the thousands (no exaggeration) of Pogies (Atlantic Menhaden) that filled the estuary along the bridge, where the shallow water apparently provides a refuge from the harbor seals that consider them a tasty meal. The walk is scenic and dog-friendly.Written 10 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
