A great place to visit during a trip to Tucson! Most of this experience is outdoors, so I recommend visiting early to beat the heat. The gardens are lovely and the animals are fun to see. We learned quite a bit about cacti from docent Aubrey! It was a fun stop!

Drive takes you up the mountain through different ecosystems. Each pull-off area offers spectacular views. Drove straight to the top and worked way down, stopping to view and photograph birds. Must do.

We had purchased shuttle tickets a day before. The main parking lot was full, so we went to another lot down the road and then walked a gorgeous trail (have your cameras out) and part of a paved road to get to the entrance, which took a good 20 minutes. So get there in advance in case the main parking lot is full and you have to walk from the other parking lot.

We rode the shuttle the entire round trip and thought the scenery was beautiful, especially the creeks we went over.

This is great museum with hung selection of airplanes both military and commercial. For a aviation buff this should be on the bucket list. It is one of the largest collections in the world with a number of unique and rare aircraft. There were a lot of my favorites there. The aircraft displayed in a number of hangers and outside. They have a special hanger that is dedicated to the B-17 which is on the grounds but technically not part of Pima. Remember if is a warm day drink plenty of water and there are a number of places you sit for a bit. We took the tram tour which cost a extra $8. They do not do the tour of the Davis Monthan Boneyard anymore that one is suspended. We started with the tour as it got us oriented and the tour guide was very good and had good info on the different sections and info on key aircraft, After the tour we walked back to the areas where we wanted to spend some extra time and get close to some of the aircraft. One nice thing is you can get up close to a lot of the aircraft, It was cool to be under the 787 and the B-26 for instance. My wife is not a aviation buff like I am and she really liked it and think there is something for everyone to like. The shear scope and size was very impressive. If you are in area I would not miss going to this museum.

A great place to visit while in Tucson! This is a quick drive out into the desert, but such a lovely setting. The mission is just beautiful with all of the hand painted decoration. There are also a few small shops near by.

Stopped by on our way to Arizona-Sonora Desert museum and then came back another day to see sunset from there. View is great, you can hike a bit from there to find an even better spot for the sunset. Parking just before sunset might be tricky (many spots, but even more people coming), so come early.

Tent camped 2 nights, hiked Canyon Loop first evening (Thursday), Romero Pools twice starting at sunup (Friday and Saturday), Romero Ruins and Birding Trail second evening. Romero Pools most work but worth the effort, not crowded. Temperature hit 105 F in afternoon but bearable if in shade, an umbrella helps and camped under a tree. Park facilities well maintained (showers and toilet area), trails well marked and reasonably maintained.

No campfire allowed but wonderful dinners from nearby Indian and Thai eateries.

Only complaint with RVers - Thursday night only myself and a couple with car pull-behind camper - wonderful night quite and darkness though only a mile or so from a suburban mall. Friday night the weekend RVers arrived at next spot with always on AC and a string of lights surrounding the RV. Unfortunately common in parks where electric hookups which all sites at Catalina have. Not sure why they needed to light up everything outside when they were inside.

Just returned from an early morning walk at Tohono Chul. Free admission from 7am - 8am, and you can enjoy Sip & Stroll from 7am - 10am. Walk their newly created 1-mile walking loop, then enjoy coffee, OJ, scones, etc from the Bistro pop-up located at the start of the trail. Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 - 8, they are offering music, beverages including wine, beer, and spirits, along with some light snacks. Fun activities for the summer!

Even on a very hot day, I enjoyed visiting. There was plenty of shade to rest in and take a break. Seems very well-maintained too. I enjoyed the butterfly garden. I suggest removing some of the kitschy glass butterflies and other annoying decorations; the desert plants don't need embellishment.

While traveling to see friends in Tucson, they suggested that we visit The Gaslight Theatre. It sounded a bit hokey, but we agreed to go. The show was fantastic and the food served was very good and reasonably priced.

A must see gallery that consists of several buildings, a small mission and original private residence; designed and built by the Arizona artist Ettore "Ted" DeGrazia. The unique building designs incorporate adobe brick, straw, cholla cactus skeletons and other architectural surprises. The gallery houses the artwork and sculptures which are often based on stories. The gallery and buildings are open daily 10am-4pm. $8.00 for adults. $5.00 for children. Children under age 12 are free. Parking is free. Restrooms on site. Gift shop.

We definitely preferred the East side of the park. The drive was easy and offered beautiful views. Were able to make quick stops and get right up close to some unique cactus.

A very enjoyable afternoon going around visiting the regular animal inhabitants of the zoo with the special animatronic dinosaurs on display and photo opportunities.
