This is a great place to see Indian Ruins. Lots of stairs, but you can take your time (as long as you are out by 5pm)! The rangers were very informative. We learned quite a bit about the history of the area.

We did this and the sunset crater. Kids are fifteen and seventeen, and I think they enjoyed it. There were no rangers around (Christmas) so they didn’t learn as much as they could have, but both sites are fascinating with good signage

This is a beautiful and interesting national park. We took the ranger’s recommendations and stopped at a few spots along the drive. Our favorite was the hike to the base of the crater. Nothing is super strenuous and to be in the middle of this place is awe inspiring. Bring food and drink and there isn’t food available.

We did the zipline adventure with our kids, ages 15, 19, 21, and 21. Everyone had a great time. The training ahead of time was informative and helpful. There is a bit of a hike to the start of the course, and there are a number of ladders to go up or down throughout. That was the toughest part for me (mom, 47 with bad knees). The guides are super chill and very helpful and encouraging. I opted to be done after the 1st two of three courses and the rest of the family finished out. It was a great morning. Followed it up with a recommendation from staff for lunch, which was also a hit!

We love astronomy and history, so this was the perfect place to visit. The observatory is on a mesa above Flagstaff, so you have a beautiful view over the city, day or night. It is open noon to 10 pm, so we were able to go up in late afternoon and walk around, then stay after dark.
They have video presentations and live talks about the history of the observatory, the discovery of Pluto in 1930 (you can see the equipment used to discover it!) and other subjects, plus they have telescopes available to view celestial objects once it is dark.

We opted to go to the Discovery of Pluto talk, which started in the Rotunda building, then we walked up the hill to see the astrograph telescope which was used in that discovery. Tour guide and astrophysics student Gavin gave a great talk, and was able to answer lots of questions.
The Rotunda building has history displays, and hosts other talks, like Moonrise. As we were there the day after a full moon, guide Kate talked about the moon, then led a walk to the overlook to watch the rising moon.

We were able to view Saturn and its rings on the historic Clark refractor telescope, then went to the Giovale Open Deck observatory where we viewed Jupiter and its moons, as well as a globular cluster in the constellation of Hercules.

They only have water and candy bar type of snacks, but you can come during the day and keep your receipt, then go eat in Flagstaff, and come back to look through the telescopes. Be sure to bring warm clothes, as it gets cool quickly at this altitude once the sun goes down. It was also windy.

This was a very interesting tour. Thanks, David. You really know your stuff. Historical home filled with original furniture. There is a beautiful cabinet in the Visitor Center made of a variety of pieces of wood that the family collected from around the world. The story of the family and the impact they had on the Flagstaff area is worth hearing about.

We didn’t go all the way to the end of the cave because we are scaredy cats when it came to the dark 😅 our flashlights weren’t too bright. But! It was cool nonetheless, just being able to sit in there knowing it was formed by molten rock was a neat experience on its own 😁

Nice visitor center stopped in to see what they had to see in the area. The staff didn't bother you unless you had a question. They had a nice gift shop and the prices were good. I didn't realize that this was also an Amtrak station and is a very busy train station.
