Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- jo and Andy gSurrey, UK1,024 contributionsAfter having spent a week in the local area, we went to the rob piercy gallery in Porthmadog. I could have bought more than one piece, but reigned myself in! Opted for a print of setting from black sands rock beach over to criccieth, which was one of our fav walks. The woman running the shop was also a picture framer and able to frame for me in a frame of my choice within the hour ( as the frame on the wall was not to my taste). Mum bought a fab piece called ‘ stone wall’ but sadly they did not have any of the chosen charcoal frame in the size, but she took the print anyhow. Lovely experience of buying in there, a local artist I understand together with a professional and friendly woman who looked after us.Written 5 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ann CBispham, UK438 contributions........shame about the lady working there who was more concerned with discussing with a couple who had clearly settled in for a good chat about the colours of exterior paint being applied to some of the local buildings than with engaging with people who might have been potential customersWritten 26 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FrenziedYakNorthwich, UK28 contributionsFriendly & welcoming model shop with extensive & varied stock, including old and retired sets from a variety of brands. Prices are competitive and owner very knowledgeable and cheery. My boys were very impressed with the Zulu diorama which was huge! It's a good job we don't live closer - it would cost me a fortune!Written 29 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bill HAberdeen, UK96 contributionsJust what an independent bookshop shop should be all about: well-stocked shelves covering all genres, a focus on local publishers and authors and friendly staff who can order books for next-day delivery to the shop. - therichastillStevenage, UK3,504 contributionsIt's always handy to visit a second hand music shop as you could find a gem you have been hunting for.
Cob Records is a perfect place to check out. It's close to Porthmadog Harbour station and the Cob. Hence the name.
There is a wide variety of vinyl and CD's to have a look through and I hope you pick up a bargain!Written 19 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I asked to only see local made goods and I purchased two sets of sea glass earrings and a woolen scarf that she actually made. She was as excited as I was. Make this shop a stop for yourself. So many cleverly crafted items all unique.Written 29 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Suzanne M26 contributionsBeautiful shop, magnificent staircase but also lifts. Full of luxurious items but lovely little things as well, yes I DID need that pretend, lifelike potato! Friendly, helpful staff. Had a cappuccino in the cafe which was delicious, it did get busy so I hope people keep going there and it stays open. A major part in the loveliness of Porthmadog. Everywhere super clean. Well worth a visit.Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Jilly2903Llan Ffestiniog, UK1,940 contributionsThis shop is located on the corner by the harbour. Its sister shop (Edinburgh Woollen Mill) is just a few yards below it. Whilst we were shopping in Port this morning (Sunday), we noticed that there was a sale on so we decided to have a browse inside. We both liked the Nauticalia range but these items were not included in the sale. The staff are always helpful and polite.Written 17 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sarah HShrewsbury, UK13 contributionsFabulous shop, with wonderful hand knitted/crocheted items, wooden items and so many more locally made things. You pay for the craftsmanship and knowledge. Anything from here is sure to last for a very long time. Very helpful owner. We returned 3 times for something we wished we had bought whilst we were there, and the wonderful lady owner made us something to take home.Written 12 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - geo g6 contributionsI requested only items made locally. I got earrings and a scarf the owner made. IN my colors. luck!
This place had so much that I would have loved to own. But travel makes it hard to pick up big items.
I could have stayed here longer

It is situated next to the Cat Protection Charity Shop near the harbour end of the town centre. We have seen many a people admiring the window display. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful. Hubby especially liked the hatching dinosaur/egg ornament. I'm a huge fan of all things Alice in Wonderland so he bought me a colourful grinning Cheshire Cat to go with the rest of my collection. I have previously purchased Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy figurines which are comical and quirky.Written 20 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
