Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Suzanne M26 contributionsBrilliant shop, friendly staff. I'm not a big beer drinker, although my husband is, but LOVE their beers. Excellent choice of beers, glasses, clothes etc, perfect for presents. NO trip to the lovely Porthmadog would be complete without coming here.Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RobNorth Wales, UK1,181 contributionsSmall museum tucked away near the harbour in Porthmadog.
Some interesting facts around the harbour, boats and how slate was transported.Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The room we played was brilliantly designed and the puzzles were clearly thought out. They tailor the puzzles and clues to reflect how experienced you are with escape rooms, which is a great touch that we haven’t experienced elsewhere. If you’re ever in the area, I would seriously recommend giving them a visit!Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jonnyray69Maidstone, UK7 contributionsLovely train journey from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, great way to see some stunning scenery about a steam train. Booked 1st class observation seats and definitely worth the extra as you get a seat each side of the train (if there are two of you) so you get to see both sides. Booked the cream tea which is probably enough to share between 2. Staff very attentive and knowledgeable.Written 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- FrenziedYakNorthwich, UK27 contributionsFriendly & welcoming model shop with extensive & varied stock, including old and retired sets from a variety of brands. Prices are competitive and owner very knowledgeable and cheery. My boys were very impressed with the Zulu diorama which was huge! It's a good job we don't live closer - it would cost me a fortune!Written 29 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - therichastillStevenage, UK3,348 contributionsIt's always handy to visit a second hand music shop as you could find a gem you have been hunting for.
Cob Records is a perfect place to check out. It's close to Porthmadog Harbour station and the Cob. Hence the name.
There is a wide variety of vinyl and CD's to have a look through and I hope you pick up a bargain!Written 19 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Shop local!Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jilly2903Llan Ffestiniog, UK1,929 contributionsThis shop is located on the corner by the harbour. Its sister shop (Edinburgh Woollen Mill) is just a few yards below it. Whilst we were shopping in Port this morning (Sunday), we noticed that there was a sale on so we decided to have a browse inside. We both liked the Nauticalia range but these items were not included in the sale. The staff are always helpful and polite.Written 17 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michael STamworth144 contributionsMy wife and I and two friends travelled from Porthmadog to Beddgelert today, 2nd October 2024, on the 10.15am train. What a wonderful journey. The crew were very friendly, informative and helpful. One of the crew came from Minesota.
I would certainly recommend this trip if you are in the area.Written 2 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
