Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Assiduously enforcing Covid-19 rules and regulations here. Reduced real ale range, presumably due to currently reduced patronage. Still an enjoyable and personable visit to one of the last proper street corner pubs in Medway.

When you’re driving, and can only have a single pint, the quality of that point becomes really important. I visited the Coopers with family and friends for a quick one before returning home. I had a nice pint of brown Shepherd Neame britain’s oldest brewer. My paint was crystal, clear, tasty, and refreshing. Exactly what you want from a pint when you can only have a single pint. The other drinks our group had were equally as good the pub itself is traditional, decor, comfortable, and the rear bar was free from TV and electronic noise. I enjoyed my pint. I enjoyed my sit down in a warm comfortable traditional Pub and will definitely visit again when I’m in the area.

Great pub and great atmosphere, if anyone doesn’t like this sort of place can I suggest you seriously cash in your chips, or just stay indoors

Always a friendly welcome, a very cosy atmosphere, in or out, and a good selection of drinks including the Germanic theme that it has.

This is one of Rochester's hidden gems. Inside one of the high street's most charmingly wonky ancient buildings - there's barely a straight line in the place (with the exception of the tables - so don't worry, your drinks will stay where you put them) - you'll find one of the best selections of craft beer in Medway. There are other craft beer places, sure, and they're good, but none are so inviting, homely, and comfortable as the Wolfe and Castle. Also, in those other places you won't have Paul and Anna looking after you, and friendlier hosts, or hosts more knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the beer they sell, you are unlikely to find.

As others have noted, the place is small - but if you are initially unable to find room, just pop up past the castle and have one at the Coopers Arms - the best traditional pub in the area - then try again in an hour or so.

The Wolfe and Castle doesn't do food, but they are happy for you to have food delivered - and they will even provide their own plates and cutlery. But no matter what you order, you can be sure they'll have something fantastic to wash it down with!

Perfect micro-pub, delicious ales and an excellent house band! Luckily I managed to get one of the original band t-shirts. The people are friendly and the bar staff are beautiful, both of them!!

Despite the slightly slow wait times for good, I will definitely come back. I recommend the Aztec Dog and the loaded fries, both of which have just the right amount of fire but are very flavoursome
Staff are friendly and helpful and I will be back again.

Despite the reviews which report its moribundity, I found the Flippin Frog open. And on a Sunday afternoon.

And it's still a classic micropub, with a small seating area and its own quirks. Barmaid was friendly and welcoming. Ales were good. A cooling breeze ran through from the back to the front, welcome on a hot day. Retro albums playing on a gramaphone record player.

    Perfect.

So I stumbled upon this gem of a pub just last week. You walk in and you instantly feel welcome. The bar staff are attentive and always polite and the ales are always different and of top quality. The garden prob could do with a few more steps as not great for elderly or disabled but other than that it's a pub you can't help but return to many times!!

Not the best experience. Food is adequate but trying to use the blue light card was a nightmare as the internet is so poor. When the food arrived I severely burnt my finger on the plate as it was so hot and the server didn’t warn me.

Great pub, good food but only a rating of 4, avoid at weekends unless you are a young clubber! Nice real ales.

Had the privilege of attending a wedding breakfast here. The food was delicious, so many of us commented on how well it was presented, served and tasted. Not one dish was disappointing. Would visit again without hesitation

Drinks were nice and cheap , environment was lovely with wonderful music however giving a three star because they didn't have enough tables inside, had to stand and watch the live music while holding the weight of a drink on one hand plus they didn't serve any food which was more disappointing..

Called in for drinks whilst spending a weekend break in the Medway Towns and received a warm welcome in this cosy and traditional pub. All COVID protocols followed to the letter allowing us to relax, feel safe and enjoy the ambience of a proper pub.
