This is a great place to visit - the kids can go way out on the rocks and it is safe as long as parents stay close - just watch out for seals, since you can walk right up to them without even noticing!

A great walk from Mount Cook Village, is the Hooker Valley track, two hour walk up to the Glacier lake, I have done it a number of times and love it each time, great walk even for children.
Staff helpful too, advised on some great walks including Hooker Valley (I think a must do!) even with kids.

There was seagulls about too; these sightings were most interesting for children, It was quite a climb though before we got to the Peninsula Walkway but ones you reach the top ....wah... breath taking view.
