The lake has beautiful views right from the picnic spots close to the parking lots or from the family friendly beach walks on either side of the dam.
Our kids were able to throw rocks in the water, enjoy stunning views of the immediate water as well as the mountains in the distance.

There is one more trail that we took from the lake moraine trailhead that allowed us to walk through snow on the trail in mid July while our friends and family at home were dealing with excessive heat warnings.
... kids loved the rock pile and it's worth the climb... get there earlier in the day to avoid parking traffic... the canoe ride was the highlight and gave us some great family photos... would go back in a heartbeat.

The kids enjoyed scampering around Pyramid Island, which is accessible by a sturdy footbridge.The views from the island are beautiful, and I especially enjoyed the interpretative signs they had all around the island.
